NHL Hockey Hall of Very Good

They’re local heroes and they do a lot of good for the community, heck they even live in Vancouver if I recall properly. They should make the BC HOF or something, good players but not aight enough for the HOF in downtown Toronto.

It's funny that you'd say this considering they won Art Ross trophies, and that seems to be the only thing that matters to Oilers fans on this board.

They most likely mean a lot to you because they’re the only players in Canucks history to win them, so I get that you want to hold to those types of accomplishments tight to your chest because there is not much to cheer for but that is not impressive.

but that is not impressive.

Winning art ross is quite impressive, the list of retired fArt Ross winner not in the hall is of one player I think, Herb Cain won during a war year and never made a top 10 in points in any other season (never score over 45 points in any other season).

Maybe it will become more common with Jamie Benn joining him one day, but I doubt the Sedin's will, they were quite famous to miss the hall of fame, it is not like the bar for the hockey all of fame is particularly high, face of a Canadian team for a while that was a good one, twins narrative and nice ceremony when they go win, individual award (Hart-Pearson-Ross x2), over 1000 points, how would they miss ?

You're right, I don't get to cheer accomplishments like 1st overalls as well

Are you seriously trying to argue that winning an Art Ross is not that impressive? I'm far from a Sedin fan, but considering that they were arguably the best players in the league for a short time, coupled with the unique nature of their careers (twins playing together), I'd be more surprised to see them not be inducted sometime down the road. There's only a handful of players who have won the Hart Trophy (or Art Ross, for that matter) and aren't in the Hall, and there's no way one Sedin gets in and the other doesn't.

Exactly and there is nothing wrong with that. McDrai are guaranteed HOF players already and I fail to see any reason for the Sedins to get in the HHOF when in my opinion it would cheapen the value.

I don’t think that particular poster is really indicative of Oilers fans.
At least in my observations, the Sedins are held in very high regard by the fan base and most would support HOF induction. Oilers fans can be a bit silly sometimes, but they recognize great players - especially those who played for their biggest rivals

That's been my general experience as well, but that poster's been making some similarly negative Canuck-related posts lately so I don't mind some homer banter for a bit.

Phil Kessel

He might not get in on reputation but IMO Kessel has had a HOF career.

He'll hit 1,000 points, 400 goals (potentially 500), likely close to 1,500 games played, 900 game iron man streak, Olympic silver (2010), Olympic all-star team (2014), two cups where he was 1st and 3rd in team playoff scoring.

Phil does not get enough credit for how insanely good he was in those 2 cup runs and the 2014 Olympics. Toronto really did him dirty, he could have been scoring 40-50 easy with some help.

The best we could do was Tyler Bozak as his 1C...and he was still a PPG player here. 40+ would've been easy if he had a legitimate C at any point in Toronto.

A lot of players not in the HOF have better numbers and accolades than this... including fellow Americans LeClair and Roenick.

Are these supposed to be names that are just under HHOF worthy? Or players that exemplified "very good"?

Hall of Very Good to me is one step below Hall of Fame. Players that could almost make it but likely won’t.

Wouldn’t name guys like Gionta or Tikanen. There are several levels between them and HHOF’ers.
