Confirmed. The Coyotes are very excited to add three young, quality players to our squad.

We expect Krajicek to step in to a top-6 defensive role and see plenty of PP time. We like his size and offensive potential and expect him to play alongside any of our returning D-men, particularly Sauer and Jovo.

Karsums brings an infectious style of play that matches well with our team, and has tremendous potential as an aggressive, two-way forward. We're looking forward to seeing him work with Doaner, Hanzal, Tikh, and Prust.

Lundin gives us another young NHL-ready defenseman, who we expect to look more like the player who played in the YoungStars game just two years ago.

MacLean was tough to give up, no question. He's a fine young talent and we wish him the best. And we know he'll like playing for RT.

Todd and David worked their butts off last year for us but we wanted to get younger on the blueline, so included them in this deal.

Pick #36 always tough to give up, but we stayed in the 2nd and got into the 3rd, and that was important for us.

The Vancouver Canucks are proud to announce that they have resigned pending free agents Daniel and Henrik Sedin to identical six year, $42 million contracts. We feel that they are franchise players, and will now be an integral piece of any future success in Vancouver until the year 2015.

In addition, the Vancouver Canucks have resigned physical defenceman Rob Davison to a one year contract.

This signing is confirmed.

The Sedins are the focal point of the Vancouver offense, and few teams can offer $7 million individually let alone for both of them.

With this offer on the table, the Sedins would never sign with another team.

:bolts land Brett MacLean from Coyotes

BrettMacleanDraftPortrait250.jpg

Tampa Bay is very proud to announce the acquisition of Brett MacLean. MacLean, who is only 20, was the 2nd round, 32nd overall pick from the 2007 draft.

"Brett was a scoring star in junior and had a very successful 1st year as a pro for San Antonio in the AHL. We have some very good feedback on him, and our scouts feel he is NHL ready. We envision him playing in our top six next season, its his job to lose. We're very excited to add a player of his skill level and talent to our organization."

"We're also happy to welcome Todd Fedoruk and David Hale to the Lightning family. We love Todd's size and toughness, and hes played in over 500 NHL games now, hes a valuable addition to our lineup and our locker room. Hes an enforcer who can actually skate and keep up on a scoring line if needed, and those are valuable in today's NHL. David is more of a stay at home defenseman that we were looking for, and comes at a very affordable cap hit and we're eager to see what he can bring to the table."

"We were also able to move up from the 52nd overall selection in the 2nd round to the 36th overall selection, to go with our 32nd overall selection, and in a very deep draft class we are thrilled to have that luxury. We have our eyes set on several players who should be available for those picks"

"All and all, it was a pleasure doing business with Mr. Roussel, and the Phoenix Coyotes, and we wish our former players the best."

Red Wings land goaltender Halak from Canadiens

hal_ar_041207.jpg

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired goaltender Jaroslav Halak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for RFA C Jiri Hudler.

"We targeted Halak as one of the goaltenders we wanted to try and land," GM Jim Nill said on a conference call from Russia, here he continues to meet with RFA RW Alex Radulov, acquired earlier in the day from the Nashville Predators. "Hes a good young netminder who we see complimenting Osgood well."

Confirmed.

The Montreal Canadiens are very happy to have a player of Hudler's caliber in the trade. We would soon re-sign him to a long-term deal, and he will be part of our young core of players we are trying to develop here in Montreal. Best of luck to Halak.

In other news, Montreal has re-signed Tom Kostopoulous to a 2yr deal worth $900K per season.

GM Game 5 Announcement

Under no circumstance is Radulov returning to NA in this game.

I looked up as many stories on him as possible, and I've come to this decision:

1) He wants to play in the Olympics for Russia.

2) The IIHF created a "Radulov Rule" suspending players from international play for skipping one contract in a league for another league. This was created after the Radulov sage so it didn't affect him.

3) Most people agree that if he leaves his KHL contract for the NHL, the IIHF will suspend him from the Olympics.

We are very sad to let go of Jason, but we feel that he needs to move on to a playoff team wear he belongs.

In exchange, we get 2 great 3-4th line scorers, both play center, both can play gritty when asked to. Christensen will replace Chimera for now, while Nokelainen is in the lead for the 4th line centerman role.

Anaheim confirms. They bring in a veteran that perfectly fits the teams style of play, without giving up any core pieces. The Ducks feel that minor moves like this make a huge difference come playoff time, and feel they have hit a homerun with this deal.

Yep I have decided. I am moving Kris Versteeg!

Hawks lineup is too small. Get your offers in quickly!

Too small? Their depth is unbelievable! And now I'm going to use exclamation points to emphasize everything! I hope you get a good package for Versteeg! He is a great young player! Maybe you shouldn't trade him! He's that good!
