Some big names are on the move and it's only a matter of time before the pieces fall.

Malkin on the move in Pitsburgh e3

Rangers are looking at options regarding Wade Redden. A buy out a possibility?

Saku Koivu to test the market? Done as a Habs?

Kings are looking to make a splash, either by trade or on the market.

Lecavalier as ask to be traded. All the rumous are getting to him and now he wants to be moved.

Sean Avery might be considering retirement as he got a very tempting offer as a model stylist.

Niklas Lidstrom is also considering retirement to spend more time with his family. Might decide to play 1 or 2 more years but back home in the SEL or stay in Detroit for 1 last year.

Marc Savard leaving Boston e4

Tampa Bay has traded forward Ryan Craig to Columbus for right winger Derek Dorsett.

Interesting deal here....

Dorsett is a good young player with some offensive upside.
Craig posted some a few points this season.

I think Dorsett, IMO is the better player. Just better well rounded. But Craig is a good player for his style of play.

Not even close to a blockbuster, but I like the deal for both sides.

Confirmed. I have Boll as an enforcer, and I need a 4th line centerman, or a healthy stratch.

Tampa Bay re-signs RFAs

:bolts

Tampa Bay re-signed forward Radek Smolenak to a two year, two way deal.

Also re-signed goaltender Mike McKenna to a one year, two way deal today. McKenna is expected to battle for the no. 1 job with Riku Helenius at the Lightning's AHL affiliate Norfolk.

Also re-signed winger Martins Karsums to a one year, two way contract.

Deals are currently being worked out for defenseman Matt Lashoff, Matt Smaby, Lukas Krajicek, Mike Lundin as well as goaltender Karri Ramo and forward Blair Jones.

It has been reported the Lightning did not offer contracts to RFAs Lauri Tukonen or Justin Keller. Tukonen, once a highly touted 1st round pick from the Kings, had been playing over in europe.

The Vancouver Canucks are proud to announce that they have resigned pending free agents Daniel and Henrik Sedin to identical six year, $42 million contracts. We feel that they are franchise players, and will now be an integral piece of any future success in Vancouver until the year 2015.

In addition, the Vancouver Canucks have resigned physical defenceman Rob Davison to a one year contract.

Eklund fighting with an NHL GM over a rumor... e5. GM was believed to be Detroit's.

There are bigger things going on in Detroit. Samuelsson has turned down their offer and plans to head to free agency. Samuelsson wants a 4 year deal worth 9.5 million total.

Also, Detroit had made a trade with a division rival, bringing a top 6 forward to Detroit.

Heatley on the move

The Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames have completed a blockbuster trade. The Senators have sent former 50 goal-scorer Dany Heatley, to Calgary, along with Shean Donovan, Alexandre Picard, Ilya Zubov, and Columbus' 2009 2nd round draft pick in exchange for all-star defenseman Dion Phaneuf, David Moss, Greg Nemisz, and Calgary's 2009 1st round draft pick.

"It was a tough decision to make (trading Heatley), but we felt the opportunity to add a true#1 defenseman in Dion Phaneuf was too good to pass up "said GM Bryan Murray at a press conference, "Dion will anchor the Senators blueline for years to come, and we wish Heater all the best in Calgary."

Confirm.

Trading Phaneuf was really tough, he's going to be a great defenseman, but getting a 50 goal scorer in return is huge. Cammalleri is likely going to test free agency and we felt it was important to get a first line LW to replace him. We give up a lot of our future in Phaneuf, Nemisz and our first this year, but we get a pretty good return and we are in "win now mode".
