The Colorado Avalanche have a trade to announce:

To Colorado: Cody Franson
To Nashville: Marek Svatos

The Avalanche would like to thank Marek for his time in Colorado. We feel that Marek would be best served with a change of scenery. He should get plenty of playing time in Nashville with solid line-mates. This helps our team give more playing time to Chris Stewart and David Jones are RW.

Franson is a great prospect and will be given a long look in training camp. He put up solid number in the NHL and we feel that he will be a long-term contributor on our blueline.

1) neither poni or grabovski is on your team anymore!
2) has more characters, but Stempniak is pretty easy to pronounce in my opinion, and really, so is Grabovski. :D

Nashville confirms and looks forward to a "Hopefully" injury free productive season from Mr. Svatos. We believe he can infuse some needed offense into the lineup.

Bergeron Headed to Florida
The Panthers acquired center Patrice Bergeron today in a trade that sent Greg Campbell, Colby Robak, Nick Tarnasky and Florida's second round pick in 2009 back to the Bruins.

This move gives the Panthers a legit top-line center who is still very young and signed to an inexpensive contract.

To Boston: Gregory Campbell, Nick Tarnasky, Colby Robak, 44th overall pick
To Florida: Patrice Bergeron

If anyone wants to trade for the 15th overall pick there gonna have to do it before 1 pm, since I'm going to work after. PM me with trade ideas, willing to trade down, but would rather pick up a top-six LW.

:bolts sign top prospect Ian Cole

Ian Cole's contract: 3 year ELC, $787,500 NHL salary/year, $75,000 AHL salary/year, $87,500 Signing Bonus/year, $200,000 Individual A Bonus/year, $1,075,000 Cap Hit/year

He has not made up his mind whether or not he wants to turn pro this fall, but we've given him a deadline that we would like to know an answer by and we fully trust Ian will let us know by then. We still felt it very important to get him locked up, we look forward to one way or another, him patrolling our blueline for many years to come."

7th overall still available. Thrashers looking to move down in the draft for some immediate help. This is considered a top 7 draft so it will be a good pick.

:bolts announce team leadership changes

With the trade of Vincent Lecavalier, the Lightning needed a new captain, and wasted no time naming Martin St. Louis the new captain of the franchise. Previously, he had served as a alternate captain.

Martin-St-Louis_1.jpg

Marty's replacement as an alternate captain is none other than Ryan Malone.

Ryan joins Andrej Meszaros as one of the team's two alternate captains, a post Meszaros had been given at the beginning of last season.

The Lightning are also pleased to announce they have hired Gary Roberts as a special hockey advisor to GM Brian Lawton.

The Vancouver Canucks would like to announce that they have completed a trade with the Montreal Canadiens which will see veteran defenceman Willie Mitchell heading east. In return, the Canucks will receive young defenceman Ryan O'Byrne.

We'd like to thank Willie for his strong play on our blueline over the past three seasons, and wish him luck in Montreal. Unfortunately, in a cap environment, it simply wasn't feasible to keep him in the same role heading into next season. We look forward to seeing what Ryan can do for us, and feel that he still has plenty of upside that will have a better chance of realization in Vancouver.

This trade is on hold until C-Saku and THH confirm they allowed Willie Mitchell to waive his NTC.

:bolts signings

Tampa Bay has re-signed restricted free agents Matt Lashoff, Justin Keller, Lauri Tukonen and Karri Ramo.

Ramo is set to backup Mike Smith in Tampa and signed a 2 year, one way contract with a cap hit of 750k. Lashoff signed a two year, one way contract with a cap hit of 900k. Justin Keller and Lauri Tukonen signed one year, two way contracts, with Tukonen's contract having an out clause to play with his Finnish league team if he doesn't make the NHL roster.

A trade has been finalized between Anaheim and a division rival. Rumour is that it involves a roster player and prospect coming to the Ducks.

Kings might have a big trade to announce today.

If this deal ever finalize, I can say the Kings will consider moving down from their 5th overall position in the draft.

We'd look to move down anywhere from 7th to 11th overall and will ask for a addition of 2009 picks or good prospect to do so.
