:bolts re-sign would be unrestricted free agents

Tampa Bay has re-signed forwards Matt Pettinger, Jason Ward and David Koci along with defenseman Richard Petiot.

Koci and Ward signed one year deals worth $550k each, while Pettinger and Petiot both agreed on a 2 year deals, with Pettinger's worth 1.2 million and Petiot's worth 1.1 million.

The Lightning then assigned Ward, Koci and Petiot to their AHL affiliate the Norfolk Admirals. They must pass through waivers first in order to do so, since they signed the one way deals.

It is with regret that I need to inform you that I take over the Carolina Hurricanes as GM.

The roster has'nt been posted and no contact in regards to RFA as been made either.

I'm open to trade talks after I look over the team.

Don't ask for Eric Staal or Cam Ward please. Your PMs will be ignored.

We've gotten offers for the first pick. Some are even overpayment. But there is not one package that could remove this pick from our hands.

We've heard our fans. Many of them are unhappy with our decisions at previous drafts. This year, however, we agree with our fans. We have the first pick, and we are keeping it. And with it, we will take who we feel is the best player in this year's draft class.

With the 1st Overall Pick of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the New York Islanders select, from the London Knights of the OHL, John Tavares

I've never had a real Philly cheesesteak before. The closest I've gotten are the ones down in Wildwood. How does that compare to the real ones, HH?

:sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have resigned forward Matt Ellis.

Additionally we would like to state that we are interested in trading down to the 20-24 range, possibly even farther back.

no cheesesteak compares to a Philly. South Jersey's aren't bad but they still don't even compare. In my travels I will never get a cheesesteak out of penn that is called a philly cheesesteak. if it's just called a cheesesteak I'll eat it but when Philly is added...just say no

The Sabres have successfully traded down.

Sabres trade 13th for SJs 1st (26th) TML 2nd (37th), PIT 3rd, Jeff Tambellini, Freddy Meyer.

Isles confirm. We did our quantity picks last year and are looking for quality this year. We wish Tambellini and Meyer the best in Buffalo, they just didn't seem to fit in our system.
