Everything I posted is what I heard, u can believe it or not. I did say yesterday that the Kings contacted Rangers and where shown the door right away. I heard this Sunday night and decided to come on here and share with other fans. Frank Seravalli just came out with this news today.
And I explained why you're getting push back. New accounts show up every deadline, draft, free agency period, etc. Sometimes they end up right, sometimes they end up wrong. It doesn't mean they have sources, doesn't mean they don't. The further away you are from the source of knowledge the more it warps or the more time passes before it gets to you and things change. And quite frankly, you don't really have anything on the line here.
The Kings would really like to pick up Lukas Reichel. He plays for Eisbaren Berlin, the team in the DEL owned by Anschutz where 5 of our prospects are currently on loan, and therefore have a great scouting report on him (this is why Yannetti mentioned in the interview that any defenseman available at #35 would take 2-3 years to develop, he's justifying taking 2 forwards early despite the fact that our prospect pool is not as strong on the backend). Most draft rankings have him at the end of the first, beginning of second round, but the team doesn't believe he'll fall to #35. Using their multiple 2nds to get up into the end of the 1st is an option, but there's no guarantee they'll find takers. Trading down to #3 and picking up the #28 would do wonders towards grabbing Reichel while still getting one of Stutzle/Byfield who they are pretty even on but Ottawa may not bite. There's also a chance that Reichel goes much earlier in the draft (the kings are high on him for a reason) than projected and therefore they don't really have a shot at him as teams are much more reluctant to part with. Either way, we know Yannetti and the Kings are willing to take draft risks based on what they did last year: taking Bjornfot at #22 and guessing that one of the forwards they had targeted at the spot would fall to #33 (Kaliyev) even though most draft rankings would have inverted the two.
Do I have a source or is that an educated guess? Ultimately, there's little chance that I'm wrong as I've already outlined multiple reasons why the team won't be able to draft Reichel. I've built several excuses and can qualify it further by saying that this is what I've heard from people I trust that are connected, but there are so many variables as you get deeper in the draft that its very difficult to predict and decisions are constantly changing. The only way I could really end up wrong is if Reichel is available at #35...and the team opts for a defenseman who was projected to be on the board at that spot anyway. But there's also a pretty big difference in perception if I post this on my account, or if I started a new account and posted the claim in this thread. People around here may have an understanding of who I am and the likelihood of my information being accurate. But we have no way of gauging that on a new account. You may very well be right, you may very well know someone who knows someone, but you're going to be met with heavy skepticism because we don't want to further encourage people starting accounts and taking low risk guesses to try and pass it off as a connection. Spend some time here, contribute to the community, and you'll gradually find that your posts start to carry more weight.
