Nbcsn at 4.Wait the draft is tonight? Didn't even get a chance to go to the local market and get some popcorn, drinks and goodies. Dayem I need to hurry then. I've been so far removed from sports I didn't even know. Lazy to check what time and where can we watch. Thanks.
Gut feeling, short before the draft - the Kings draft Tim Stützle.
If the choice is between the player that gives an extended cup window (Byfield) vs. the one that gets the team into a cup window sooner (Stützle) I could see them select the latter in order to reach relevance before Doughty and Kopitar gets too old.
No doubt the length of Blake's tenure as GM depends on which player he takes at #2 overall. If it isn't evident the player is a cornerstone within the next few years, Blake will be fired. The scary thing about teams trading down (even just one spot) at the top of the draft is the what-ifs going forward. If that other guy at #2 ends up way heads-and-shoulders above the guy you end up taking. Of course, if your guy is better in the end and you got extra assets (who pan out), then you look brilliant. I still say that i only move down one spot if the guy i am taking at #2 is the SAME guy that I end up getting at #3. Otherwise, i stay at #2 and select the better player. you don't get cute here. There's just no guarantee the extra assets you pick up (28, etc.) even pans out.
Fool's gold. Kopitar is not going to win another cup as a 1C.
I forgot he’s no longer with us. For that matter I’ve forgotten who’s even on our team anymore.Nice. Mike Futa doing analysis during the on Sportsnet in Canada

Depends, if Byfield progresses rapidly and is still on his ELC in the last year of Kopitar's deal, I could see the one-two punch of Byfield/Kopitar down the middle being quite formidable.probably not. but he could still be relevant in a different role. Otherwise you are saying the Kings wont be relevant until his contract has expired ?
