Gut feeling, short before the draft - the Kings draft Tim Stützle.

If the choice is between the player that gives an extended cup window (Byfield) vs. the one that gets the team into a cup window sooner (Stützle) I could see them select the latter in order to reach relevance before Doughty and Kopitar gets too old.

Hmmmmmm. Mayor saying Kings LOVE Schneider, I wonder where I heard that?!?! Even said they would move up to get him

P.s not tutting my own horn, but maybe y'all can put some spect on my name. Lol

Just to be clear, I didn't discount or discredit your info. I just questioned how happy the source would be with you disclosing the information you did. I'll be honest, I was surprised John put this much info out beforehand. I am preparing articles ahead of time so I was keeping my mouth shut.

Wait the draft is tonight? Didn't even get a chance to go to the local market and get some popcorn, drinks and goodies. Dayem I need to hurry then. I've been so far removed from sports I didn't even know. Lazy to check what time and where can we watch. Thanks.

Can we post the link for the stream that NBC Sports has? You need the login from a cable provider account to watch it. Or I presume people can look it up themselves.

Fool's gold. Kopitar is not going to win another cup as a 1C.

I think it comes down to if Sens really covet Byfield as the future face of the franchise. If so it looks like Blake is giving them a path to get there.

The scary thing about teams trading down (even just one spot) at the top of the draft is the what-ifs going forward. If that other guy at #2 ends up way heads-and-shoulders above the guy you end up taking. Of course, if your guy is better in the end and you got extra assets (who pan out), then you look brilliant. I still say that i only move down one spot if the guy i am taking at #2 is the SAME guy that I end up getting at #3. Otherwise, i stay at #2 and select the better player. you don't get cute here. There's just no guarantee the extra assets you pick up (28, etc.) even pans out.
No doubt the length of Blake's tenure as GM depends on which player he takes at #2 overall. If it isn't evident the player is a cornerstone within the next few years, Blake will be fired.

Do we get a big center that can take over Kopitars roll down the road or do we get a burner that can play with Turcotte? Either way it will be exciting. Let’s get the show on the road

Nice. Mike Futa doing analysis during the on Sportsnet in Canada

probably not. but he could still be relevant in a different role. Otherwise you are saying the Kings wont be relevant until his contract has expired ?
Depends, if Byfield progresses rapidly and is still on his ELC in the last year of Kopitar's deal, I could see the one-two punch of Byfield/Kopitar down the middle being quite formidable.

Yannetti has said as much in numerous interviews that they will be drafting for BPA and nothing to do with success in the near immediate future.

IF they draft Stutzle, it's because they believe he is the better talent for The LA Kings.

I thought I saw a black pocket square with a crown on it in Byfield's jacket pocket. What do the Kings experts in Ottawa think about that?
