GDT: NHL draft lottery

The draft is such a crapshoot unless you get a surefire stud like a McDavid, Crosby, or Ovechkin. But I don't even think Hughes is gonna be generational like some people keep saying. This is the year a number overall will bust. Mark my words(well just hoping cuz the draft lottery still stings a bit).

They do need to change the rules though.

A team that finished 20th, gets the 3rd overall pick. That is laughable.
Yeah I agree. How does the current lottery rules help the NHL to get better?Top 5 teams should be the only teams in the lottery in my opinion. The league is better when talent is spread throughout the league. The league needs to have full transparency for the lottery draft and show the picks live.

After a rough night i'm thinking also positive again. Because we will get a very good prospect in Cozens, Byram, Podkolzin or Turcotte.

But what do you think ... Is it worth to trade up to get back into the top 2? And what would be the heavy costs?

The teams have representatives as the picks are picked. Does Ernst and Young need the NHL enough to allow them to rig something? If it was rigged, competitive people would complain.

This season. We can’t even f**************n lose right

They lost correctly. They almost couldn't lose more than they did. If they had lost even more, and everything happened the same way, they still would've dropped 3 spots through no fault of their own. You can blame the Kings for a lot, but not getting a top 2 pick this year isn't one of them.

It is what it is, can't change the outcome. Sucks? Yeah, to fall from 2nd to 5th, it sucks, but what can you do? Kings are still going to get a very solid, good player at 5th. All and all, they do have to look at changing the format of the lottery.

Man what a rough night. Slept like ****, kept waking up dreaming/thinking about happened to us. Ugh

Meh, it's only sports, brother. Lots more important things in life that could keep you from getting a good night's sleep.

That's the hand the Kings are dealt with, just got to make the best of it. Like many have mentioned, still an excellent opportunity to get a top end prospect into the pipeline.

Yea I agree bro. This just feels like one of those bad breakups when you were in high school lol.

I believe everything happens for a reason.

Maybe LA gets the next Elias Petterrsen. Maybe not.

Now I’m just focusing on what three players they get in the first two rounds.

Maybe a trade or two at the draft as well.

It stings a bit but life goes on.

I either want Kirby Dach (Big Center, Great Shot, reminds me of Mark Scheifele) or the #1 ranked defensemen Byram.

Gents, just wanted to stop by and say you deserved a top 3 pick way more than we did. You deserved it a f*** ton more that Chicago ever will. f*** that system.

Agreed, what’s the timeline for Byram? He going to be nhl ready anytime soon?

Whoever they pick at #5 isn't stepping into the league next season, Yannetti said as much last night, given the birthdays of guys like Cozens & Dach, they will require two more seasons before AHL eligibility (not that it would be necessary, just another option), same goes for Byram.

Yes. Basically if you're not picking 1 or 2 they're 2-3 years away at minimum.
