GDT: NHL draft lottery

Devils- Jack Hughes
Rangers- Kakko Kaapo
Blackhawks- Vasili Podzolkin
Avs- Bowen Byram
Kings- Alex Turcotte

Although, with Kovy here and hopefully, Prokhorkin on the way. Vasili Podzolkin sure would be a piece and he wouldn’t come over until next season so we get another chance at tanking

Podkolzin isn't available until after two full seasons, not just the next one. He can't go anywhere until after the 2020-21 season is over.

If you look at draft history anything out of top 3 is pretty much a crap shoot. The odds at getting a great player at #5 aren't really much higher than #10 - 25, Kings should try to trade it and get 3+ picks in 10 - 25 range. You have better odds at 1 player being quality if you draft more players.

What an anticlimax. That had all the pomp and ceremony of a retirement home raffle.

Agree with those advocating trading down for more picks. At this point it would be a good idea to start building a team rather than put all your eggs in one basket and blow everything on one superstar.

If we didn't already have 3 high picks, I could see a trading down theory but they don't really need to. The thing to watch is who they move on or before draft day and what they get in return. If they get more picks, then you could see a package to move up if a player they like is on the board.

Well that sucked donkey - hoping for a big impact right away from the draft which didnt happen. Instead its back to focusing on the long term which isnt as fun - but in the end, a good strategy and some patience is what you want. DL proved you can even blow a top pick and still succeed by making good decisions in round 2-5. Next year will suck also - I just hope the new coach is about development and we get rid of all the dead wood like Tofolli, Carter and Lewis to allow young guys to develop.

What? So what is the cut off? Trade all our first and second rounders and get 15 3rd rounders?

A 5th, a 20-25th, a 33rd and whatever else we have will help build a team with good players. This isnt directed at you but my goodness the over reactions here as if the top 2 are guaranteed Ovechkin and Crosby and everyone else is Tanner Pearson and Derek Forbort is ridiculous. We have no idea how this will shake out. We have very good picks (draft position wise) this year, lets use them and see what we can do.

some great picks left at #5. I would not trade down. We still have 2 1sts and a high 2nd to stock the cupboards. Blake may have another trade to get us another 2nd or 3rd but I hope he starts stock piling 2020 picks. we have some big contracts in Kopitar and Doughty that will be on the books for years. We need to stock those prospect cupboards on an annual basis to keep bringing up the lower salaries to mesh with the high.

So it turns out there is a patron saint of back injuries, Saint Gemma. We better start praying to her on behalf of Vilardi. IF he can get healthy, that will take a bit of the sting out of dropping THIS far in the draft. I swear the NHL has their lips glued to Chicago's butt.

I get the feeling that the Kings want Cozens first if he is there. He or Dach seem like pretty safe picks in that they both will be Top 6 guys with Top 3 potential and they are big dudes. If Turcotte is there then maybe but if he is gone, I just feel that they will pick one of these two guys over Byram and Podkolzin.

We need a kid who will fill up the net. We have been so deprived of a goal scorer for so long we need a guy that can score 40 goals. When was the last time we had a 40 goal scorer. Or at least can score 30 to 35 goals consistently.
