Just swinging by to say "abolish the lottery" because stuff like this should never happen. No one should ever have to endure Willie D like that for nothing. The 2nd worst team should be picking 2nd. I'm sorry this happened to you.







What do I do next now? I almost feel like a "f*** you LA" would be customary after this.

Feels like whoever they take is at least two years away from making a legit impact.

Vilardi is dead.

This is going to take awhile, boys. DL drafted Top 5 for three years in a row and it would have been another Top 10 if Doughty wasn't so good so soon.

Blake already has his Hickey pick in Vilardi as a possible bust so that lost season was wasted. 2018 season is such a f***ing waste of time but hopefully Kupari is legit. Here we are at #5 and probably looking at another Top 5 next season as long as they don't get screwed again.

These guys need to hit these picks. Definitely can't whiff on this one after potentially whiffing on the Vilardi pick.

Jagr and a few other great players were picked number 5 so gonna be optimistic. Ahhh screw it Blake is gonna eff this draft up. Vilardi draft set this franchise back for years and now this garbage. Oh well why do I care why do life suck balls.
 
Chicago will take Cozens, we cannot consider the next best player on the board, because he is a freakin Russian with no guarantee, of ever coming over here..
So he will fall and actually worth a risk later in the top 15

5th just sucks..

A fully healthy Vilardi is probably better than everyone but Hughes and Kakko as a prospect

I don't know if I'd consider it them whiffing on Vilardi. Can't predict injuries like that.

Yep, and even then who really could've saw us winning a cup so soon after taking picking 4th overall?
 
can we just pool our funds to send a westside barbell reverse hyper and an inversion table to wherever vilardi is living

just drop that shit on his doorstep and see if he takes the hint
 
unfortunately for the Devils they have the first overall picks in the two recent drafts where the top players are not considered to be superstar quality.


in 2017 they to Nico - looks like a solid pick - No McDavid, Matthews Crosby, Stamkos, Heck not even close to Doughty. In 2017 the #5 pick by Vancouver was Pettersson.

in 2016 - Matthews was deemed Superstar material with Laine right behind. Can't compare that top end to the 2019 draft. #5 was Juolevi who is not in the show yet but Matthew Tkachuk was picked 6th. We get anything like a Tkachuk and that's just as good as picking 1st or 2nd in this draft.

in 2015 was the Conner and Jack show. Both tagged Superstar potential. As in 2016 the top 2 were way higher top end then this upcoming draft. Picked at #4 was Marner, picked at #8 was Rantanen and picked all the way down at #35 was Aho. Basically Carolina got a Kakko comparison at 35 and Colorado took a top end Hughes at #8

In 2014 - #3 Edmonton got Draisaitl, #25 Pasta went to Boston and Point went out of the first round,


I guess all I am saying is if there was a draft to maybe fall in it is this one. No McDavid, No Malkin, Crosby huge drop. There is a higher potential in Kakko and Hughes but there are many others that in 5 10 years if we look back, people won't be shocked if a Dach, a Turcotte etc doesn't keep pace or possible out score them. At the same time if there is a draft to have numerous higher end picks it is this one. Blake has gotten us 3 top 33 picks including the #5.

Lets hope we hit at least 1 homer (top line player) and get one very solid pick (top 9 player) out of the top 3.

The quick 2 year turnaround being thrown around was always a joke. This team is 4-5 years away if things go right

I don’t think so. Maybe if Vilardi had been ok. Podkolzin doesn’t seem interested in coming over. Especially with the Russian west coast factor. How many west coast teams have Russians?

Kings will play it safe. Heck, maybe trade back if someone wants Podkolzin at 5.
 
Quality over quantity, trade up not down.
Patience brothers and sisters.
Sucks dropping to 5th but that will be a very good player.
Hockey Gods will deliver a healthy and strong guy named Vilardi next year.

Agreed. They should end up being real solid pros but we’re not talking Eichel, Mathews and of course, McDavid level.

Imagine losing out on a lottery for a real franchise altering player like those after a full year of suck. Jeebus.

I agree, except he's not fully healthy, and doesn't seem like he'll ever be. I'm sure he'll play, but back injuries are serious.
 
We're probably gong to suck again next year, so maybe we get lucky and get Lafreniere. I hope the Kings will be competitive obviously, but I doubt that unfortunately.

That’s exactly why I think they should swing for the fences at #5 with a player like Podkolzin. Dach, Cozens, and co. will likely all end up as depth forwards.

Or convince NJ to take Doughty and #5 for the #1 overall. :laugh:

Hard to say. Mikey Anderson or Cal Petersen may be the best. Possibly Vilardi if his back heals. Or Kupari could be. Not very many 18 yr olds score 30+ pts in Liiga. (he turned 19 after the last reg season game)
