The only good thing about the top 2 picks being stolen by outsiders looking in is that it might be easier to trade for, but it is going to take a King's ransom, pun intended, to wrestle that amazing bounty out of their hands. I wonder if Blake will make a neck breaking offer.

These guys up top aren't going to be franchise altering players, they will be very very good. But not worth bending backwards and giving up a haul to get.

3. Get a good coach.

Worst case scenario
1. Kings draft a defenseman
2. Kings hire TMac

At #5 I think he is. He’s arguably on the Hughes/Kakko level. Fantastic player, and clearly better than everyone else besides those top two.

If he was Canadian, he would be the undisputed #3. No question.

But why give NJ the top pick? Nobody cares about the Devils. Why would you conspire to put talent there? It didn't help that they played the Ducks and Kings, but the ratings for their Final appearances are bad. Again, unless they used NJ as a decoy. The conspiracy can't be toooooooooooooo obvious.
