I just keep feeling that Byram is the best of a good but not great group of Dman and I would rather have a guy like Dach, Turcotte or Cozens since we really have a dearth of scorers and I think that we can get a decent Dman with our 2nd first rounder if need be.

Kings need to trade up at all costs.

All meaning what? What would you send to NJ or NY? If those two kids are that good, what combo of what the Kings have could get one? The 5th pick alone wouldn't do it, so you have to go above and beyond that. Kempe + the 5th probably isn't enough, if Hughes/Kakko are that good. Kempe, the 5th, and Kupari? Don't throw Toffoli in there anywhere. It would have to be multiple young players with real NHL talent/potential. That's assuming Kempe and Kupari have that top line "it" factor. Can add Toronto's pick if you want, so maybe take Kempe out? What is all costs to you?

Waiting 2 years to even get a shot at offering him a ELC just makes me overly cautious. If they don't get him to come over, the team could devastated to have an opportunity like that blow up in their faces. They can't negotiate at all with him. He is SKA property until after 2020-21 season.
