Some of you act like we didnt win 2 cups lately, woah was us as the LA Kings fans, having to endure 2 cups in the last decade.
but i have the right to be pissed when silver spoon chicago, who's won more than us, gets handed this shit

What? So what is the cut off? Trade all our first and second rounders and get 15 3rd rounders?

A 5th, a 20-25th, a 33rd and whatever else we have will help build a team with good players. This isnt directed at you but my goodness the over reactions here as if the top 2 are guaranteed Ovechkin and Crosby and everyone else is Tanner Pearson and Derek Forbort is ridiculous. We have no idea how this will shake out. We have very good picks (draft position wise) this year, lets use them and see what we can do.

If Detroit wants to trade up to nab Podzolkin you absolutely do that, and see if you can get an additional 2nd or even 3rd. Kings only lose 1 spot and still draft a guy that might actually show up.

Sure, but that is a very very very modest 'trading down' is that all you meant, 1 spot?

For the guy who said it's rigged: this is how the lottery is actually done

What we saw on TV is for show. All the team reps knew the results when they were sitting there acting surprised.

i think each team is supposed to have a different rep in the basement watching the pingpong balls and they dont let them out until after the reveal. no cellphones or outside communication either.

Sure, that would be something if you could grab a 2nd rounder as well. It would probably be worth it to go down 2-3 spots because you are still going to have guys like Krebs and Zegras there. It think that after those two guys along with who we mentioned, you start getting guys with more boxes that need to be checked. I wouldn't trade down past 7 or possibly 8.

Said whoever is available at 5 will probably need at least a year or two of development. He also says he does like players with size.

That's another reason why I think they with target Cozens and Dach. Can't teach size and they both are good skaters.

great

just what we need in the smaller, faster NHL

why don't we just stay at 5 and finally get our superstar man something he has never had. A reliable young left shot defensemen with an offensive capability.

Just stand pat. We're in a good spot as it is. I guess my preference is Cozens if he's there than Turcotte. I just think at this point we need to load up on forwards if Vilardi's health is still in question even if I think he'll turn out fine. And I just can't justifying Podkolzin. I just can't. We can't afford to have that big of a question mark

no!!!! do not draft Dach. Hope some other team takes him, so Yannetti can't F up.
I'm really depressed now. Need to drive away somewhere a few days.

Regarding the lottery.

A two tier system could be interesting. How about teams 9- 15 or 16, once Seattle is in, are drawn to see who goes on that order and then 1-8 are drawn to see who makes up that order.

Have the weighting system adjusted as well to favour those teams that are at the top of their tiers.

Atleast this way, you don’t see a team in the teens jumping all the way up to get into a top 3 position.

or how about reverting back to how it was... most teams weren't tanking or no one was considering it an issue until the whole Edmonton fiasco

Agree. One year for sure, probably two. Bottom line is nobody they take at #5 is going to be ready to play this season.

Could still be an absolute stud. I'm not pissing on that possibility. Anyone that thought this was going to be quick had their hopes dashed today, however.

Even Hoven saying their plan is two years of Top 5 picks and then playoffs is pretty aggressive.
