I can't imagine Toronto wanting to make that big of a trade with Montreal.

That's a good point, but I think they will be willing to do it if it helps their tank. They're basically all in on McDavid at this point, or at least that's what the media is saying.

We already have a guy that would be better in Spaling. Sutter doesn't have the physicality to be a shutdown 3rd line center and doesn't have the offense to be a scoring 3rd line center. He's a really poor fit as a 3C.

I agree that Sutter doesn't fit my mold either, but I disagree that Spaling is a suitable replacement. I mean Spaling hasn't dazzled me with high end offensive showcases this season either. Plus I'm not sure about his abilities in the circle.

I guess if you want Sutter for less money Spaling is basically it, but I would argue he's somehow even more vanilla than Sutter. The bigger problem though is trading Sutter and not getting a forward back cancels out the Winnik deal in a way, so we're back where we started with the forwards.
