41 games is too harsh if just for betting on non-NHL games at work.

Not saying he shouldn't get suspended for violating league rules, but this is way too much if he wasn't betting on hockey.

That's some bullshit.

The NFL has distinctions for this, leave it to them to know that there are different severities of breaking league gambling rules.
He's not a child. I couldn't smoke weed and operate a four million dollar crane. Pinto gets to play hockey for two commas and not gamble on sports. That's really f***ing easy.

I don't disagree. Not gambling at work isn't that hard.

That said, I think something like 25 games would be more appropriate for an infraction like this.

So they just announced they had no evidence he wagered on NHL games...wtf are we doing here?? 41 games for that? Unreal.
He had to have been betting on something illegal. Most athletes are allowed to bet on other sports and play fantasy, so it had to have been bad.

Yeah, maybe dog fights, cock fights, or something crazy like that. I really can't imagine him getting 41 games for betting on an NFL game or betting on the World Series. That would be ludicrous.

The only rule the NHL has is that you can't bet on NHL games. All other stuff is good. Also this had to be last year because he isn't even under contract now.

Looks like he was possibly giving information to someone to bet for him or something idk.

Ok, this makes sense now. If this is the crime, the punishment fits.

Without more information, it will really be hard to justify a 41 game suspension for just simply sports wagering on a sport you aren't involved in.
It sounds like he was feeding inside info to a buddy and getting a cut of the winnings. Nobody has confirmed though.

Also "not betting on NHL games" is specifically worded. Betting on someone winning X award is technically not betting on a game

HE didn't bet on the NHL. His buddy may have.
I don't know. This is why it's hard to justify it. If they would just come out and say exactly what happened, no one would question it. I feel like they would say he did bet on the NHL if he had someone bet on the NHL for him, it's pretty much the same thing.
