They're pretty limited who they can throw out there. Their forwards are filled with a bunch of guys who can't play D. Are they going to put Reaves out there? Domi, Bertuzzi, Nylander, Tavares, Rookies,? lol I would hope he is better defensively than those bums.
LOL .... right.... that's it.

It took 8 years for a coach to do this... or were the GMs saying don't play him on the pk?
Don't know but if I was a Leaf fan I wouldn't like it much. Save him for his offensive prowess.

Really? I think Leafs fans should be happy they actually are caring about putting winning on the table.

It's like wishing Toews wasn't on the PK. Maybe he'd have some more ppg seasons, big whoop. Defense and eating up minutes successfully matters in sports when it comes to playoff winning.

Good point.

Well, who else would they put out there? Honest question. Kampf, and who? They literally have no defensive forwards on their team. Matthews is OK defensively, nothing great.
Gregor, Knies, Marner and Kampf along with Mathews are on the PK currently and it is quite effective. I'm not going to get into another pissing match with you ... if you think Mathews is just OK defensively you'd be wrong but that's fine.

Yes, I'm aware of who is out there. The fact they have 2 rookies on the PK shows just how terrible their defensive forwards are. Just because Matthews is on the PK doesn't automatically mean he is some great defensive forward. Maybe he'll get there one day though.

I used to not wear one, the day I decided to put one on I got the end of a goalie stick right in the face mask. Never turned back.
I always wore a visor. And then I was playing net-front, and one of our D fired a clapper that the goalie tried to deflect up into the corner with his stick, and instead deflected it up into my chin and bottom teeth. Got lucky the chin took the brunt of it. Split my lip good, kept my teeth and didn't even loosen them up at all. Chin hurt for a damn month. I think I played one more season with a visor, then went full cage and never went back after that. Might have been a high stick to the mouth that finally did it. Can't count the high sticks I've been hit with since then that would have probably done some damage if not for the cage.

I'm talking about the pros
Well you said players. I'm a player.

I can't imagine they're all against it, I just think it's been ingrained into the league that you wear visors. I have to imagine at some point they'll go to full wire cages.

I'm not. I wear one in men's league.
In men’s league I feel like you have to wear one because guys are a lot less responsible with their sticks. I played junior with a visor and only ever had a couple cuts. Second men’s league game after I was done playing competitively got a stick to the mouth as someone was trying to lift my stick and completely missed and hit me directly in the teeth. Long story short after all those dental bills, I’m never not wearing a cage again.

100%. Without a doubt. But we still see a TON of cuts and such from skates, sticks, pucks, boards, collisions, etc. in NHL games. You would think it makes sense to completely eliminate that risk factor in taking you out of an NHL game.

According to that Arizona is way better than Vegas, Tampa, and Detroit?
Not saying that it is accurate .... but we see this every NHL year at this time. The cream begins to rise as the season progresses. The pretenders sometimes look much better than what they really are and fall back into place by Christmas..

Is there a stigma in men’s league that you’re some sort of p***y for wearing a cage? I don’t get why people wouldn’t wear one. Your eyes see past the cage bars.
