That's not a good injury. It's very close to the ankle and requires a ton of hardware to stabilize. My goalie suffered more or less the same injury recently, and the timetable for return is 6-9 months.
I shattered my leg in half at the ankle and both bones came through the skin. I was out for 8 months, and didn't feel the same for close to a year.

A punch to the face would still be gutless but a step down from that crosscheck

Greig was really playing with fire by wiring that slap shot into the leafs empty net.

Some retaliation was coming to him because of his actions. It could have been a punch, a cross check or he starts a fight.

If he's going to act like a bush leaguer and insult the other teams pride don't be surprised if the other team treats him like one.

You have a problem you take the guys number and get him back clean. No excusing that cheap shit Rielly did.

So easy to say when you're not in the heat of the battle.

Reilly is a mild-mannered chap but he wasn't going to wait by taking a number for that bush league play.... 2 games, I predict.

You got anger issues bud. Do you normally go attacking people if they hurt your feelings?
LOL.

Another spirited game between Oilers and Kings tonight ..... and surprise, surprise, Corey Perry is right in the middle of it. The second half has just begun - the intensity is ramping up.

Also, case in point number 497 that the Leafs are mentally soft.
You probably would have said the same thing if Reilly did nothing. Leaf haters, gonna hate.

No, because there is literally nothing wrong with an opposing player shooting hard into an empty net to seal a game away. Who gives a ****, other than mentally fragile fake tough guys?

Don't romanticize it. He was playing a game and lost and threw a temper tantrum. There's no honor in attacking a guy after the play is over.

If someone fired a slap shot into the 'Hawks empty net and no one did anything I would be livid.

Everyone that posts on this board would be calling this team a bunch of wimps with no pride.

Greig knew what he was doing. He was insulting the leafs. He could have just shot it in and celebrated a little harder than normal. No one would have had a problem with that. He went full embarrass mode and got that he deserved.

Reilly was sticking up for his whole team. And yes, an unwritten rule was broken and a brew-ha broke out because of it.

Hopefully Greig learned his lesson.

No, nobody would notice it, except for people looking for an excuse to be mad.

This is honestly a shockingly dumb thing to be upset about.

And baseball is widely and justly mocked for their idiotic unwritten rules. Keep that trash out of the game as much as possible.

Greig did learn his lesson, that a) getting under the Reilly’s skin is really easy, and b) Reilly is a cheap douche.

That's not the point.

Don't act like Reilly hit Greig for no reason.

Greig brought that upon himself.

Bitch moves like that make me wish there was no instigator rule.

I bet all the players in the league will notice it.

What a loser. It doesn't matter how the f*** an empty net goal goes in. Whether you tee one up, don't even shoot it, dangle before....it's still an empty net goal. Not surprising to see the usual dinosaurs defending that behavior, though.

If we want to play old school gladiator rules, after Reilly runs my teammate, I skate in and crosscheck him right in the neck. Cool, right?

Leafs are going nowhere in the playoffs without leadership to calm things down and keep the team focused on playing their game. Who on the Leafs would do this?
