That's your opinion being passed along as fact to the rest of us.

That's not reality.

The whole hockey world knows it was a dick move by Greig and a response was warranted.

Since the "unwritten rules" of baseball have been brought up...

What Greig did is on the same level as a player hitting a home run in the top of the 1st and straddling the 3rd base line all the way to home plate. The next pitch is going into the next batters ribs.

Players know not to straddle the 3rd base line and what will happen if they do. It's just pure disrespect.

As far as I can tell, no one is disagreeing with you about it being a dick move and warranting some kind of response. People are saying the response was way too much for what happened.

After hearing your Hossa comparison I honestly don't think you understand what happened last night.
Ok boomer.

Ok boomer.

Like I said in a previous post, the retaliation could have been anything. It could have been a punch, a slash, a wash slash, a cross check or a brawl could have broken out.

Greig chose violence. It's on him.

Who is a boomer?

The guy who thinks that a blind-side crosscheck to the face/neck of someone is a proper response to someone disrespecting your team by shooting a slap shot into an empty net. The guy who thinks THAT is more bush league than the blind-side crosscheck to someone's neck/face.

DHF said it best. Want to be a tough guy? Act like one. Don't be a p***y and throw a blind-side crosscheck to someone's face.

It wasn't a blind side cross check to the face. Greig was looking at him. He also knew someone was going to come for him the second he did the slap shot.

Would you like me to call you a Snow Flake? Cause you're really acting like one by defending the perpetrator and making him out to be the victim.

Boomer confirmation 100%.

While we're on that topic of conversation...

You called me a snowflake! Oh no! You disrespected me! I think I'm justified to beat the shit out of you now, right, since you disrespected me so painfully?

Your logic is flawed.

Again, the action did not warrant the reaction it got. The "punishment did not fit the crime" so to speak. Not sure why that's so difficult to understand.

That's cute.

I'm going to agree to disagree with you. Hope you do the same.

Have a wonderful day.

I have no problems moving on. I can agree to disagree. I just don't understand why it's so hard to understand the concept of a punishment not fitting a crime. Like... literally no one in here is disagreeing with your premise that it warranted a reaction. I think EVERYONE is on the same page there. People are saying the severity of the reaction was unwarranted, and it was a cheap shot, bitch move by Rielly.

If you called me a snowflake, and because of that disrespect, I punched you in the face for it(or even going so far as sucker punching you)... guess what? I'm the one getting arrested for assault, right? And you're the victim?

Have a good one too. Enjoy the SB. Hopefully everyone eats tons of food, and gets home safe.

Moving on.

The only disrespect happening within this event is Reilly's shot to Greig's head.
Greig's slapshot was punk sure ... but in no way whatsoever deserving of a potential serious injury. Ffs when will people realize concussions are lifetime issues. Square off for a fair fight .. don't target the head with your weapon .. this is so much more reprehensible.
And on a side note .... love to see the Leafs get embarrassed!

This is all I've been trying to say. Yes, a response is warranted. Targeting a guys head and face with a crosscheck is not the proper response. The potential risk of career/life-altering problems doesn't fit the crime.

No, this bunch would rather resort to personal attacks while the moderators continue to turn a blind eye.
Ok boomer. ;) I'm kidding. I just couldn't help myself.

Bobby, aren't you always the guy preaching about guys having a thicker skin? You're always talking about guys being panzy-asses, and being soft, no?

Most of us on here have known each other a really long time, and have spent years(some of us across multiple decades) interacting, and many of us have met each other in real life. Moderators tend to let some of the light personal stuff go as long as it's not egregious. I don't see any issues with that, personally. We're all grown ass men or women on here(for the most part). I think we actually do a pretty good job of self-policing, and dialing things back when they get too personal.

I was called a snowflake. It's not like you'll see me flying off the handle over it, and crosschecking wally in the face. Although I might bring a sweaty glove and give him a facewash if we ever end up at a meet-up together. ;)

Yep. Greig essentially turtled knowing exactly what was coming. It was a bush league play by a wimpy player.

As I said earlier Reilly is a mild-mannered player who has never had any issues of this nature. I'm sure he regrets that he got his stick up and will pay the price but If Greig faced him like a man it probably wouldn't have happened. One thing is for certain in my mind. Greig won't do it again.

Might not be the greatest idea. I'm 6"3, 240 and currently doing the 3 major compound exercises. I'll settle for your handshake however.

(For the record, I'm no boomer, I'm 42)

I pm'd you about it. That was pretty much just me chirping ya bud. :thumbu:

And trust me, I'm not small, and I never back down from a fight. I have played hockey for what constitutes the majority of my life. :)

Man, you're on the wrong side of 40 now. Don't worry. I'll be right there with you in like 8 months. Turn 40 in October.

I live in Ontario. (Leaf territory).

I'm on the back 9 of my career. I just play for fun.

Eww.

That's all I play for too. Stay active and have some fun. Get together with the guys for a beer after. I don't take it too seriously anymore. Although I'm super competitive, and hate to lose, but that's most of us who have played sports growing up in the 80's and 90's.

Well, if you're ever in Chicago, let me know. I need to get up to Toronto at some point, too.

Bobby are you a closet Leaf's fan?
I make no apologies as I like the Sens ( given I live close by ) and have no love lost for the Leafs but Greig turtled? He turned his head towards Reilly who by then was a split second away from contact. Not much he could do unless he has super powers. I love the emotion around this but the fact remains that Reilly misstepped and will hopefully pay for it with a game or three. And here's also hoping Greig didn't suffer a concussion.

I'm regularly shocked by the amount of Canadian fans of the Hawks on here. Not sure why I'm shocked, but it always seems weird to me. Seems like there's a lot of Candian Hawks haters in the world, so seeing Canadian fans of them is always a bit odd for me.

Actually, I grew up despising the Leafs and their uppity fans.

Unlike you, this has nothing to do with which team I support. You're naive if you think Greig did not know Reilly was coming. He knew, and cowardly he feigned to not notice by looking the other way.

I've said my 2 cents. Done with this.

I am Canadian but Chicago is my fave city in the world.

When the Hawks get good in a couple years I'll probably make the trip up to catch a game.
