I don't get why they were fined a 1st round pick. Yeah, they screwed up, but it's not like Vegas was getting a good return on Dadonov. Why not a 2nd round pick, or something less substantial? And the fact they didn't tell the new owner about all of this crap going on before he bought the team is a joke.

I don't get this train of thought that, with a new owner, all sins committed under the previous regime should be forgiven. I Andlaur didn't ask, is it really up to the NHL to tell him about any investigations? And if so, would it be enough to scare off a serious bidder?

No one is saying they shouldn't be penalized. But they should have told him one of his young stars is being investigated for a major suspension, and that they could potentially lose their 1st round pick. It could bring the sale price down slightly. Wouldn't be surprised if he sues the NHL, since they had knowledge of all of this before they sold the team.

They had knowledge of the Pinto investigation before June?

I agree it seems excessive.

My understanding g of Andlauer's press conference today is that was i formed of tge Pinto investigation before he ckises the deal to buy tge Seanators..but that he wasnot told by the NJL that they were re-investigating the Dadinov fiasco case which they had investigated after Vegas had tried to trade him (this was after he was tgeirvbest pkayer in tge playoffs after Ottawa traded him to Vegas)..So sone new evidence mist have come to light that tge prior investigation never got at the tine of tgat 1st investigation)....explaining why it took the NHL so long g to come to this decision to punish Ottawa with loss of a 1st round pick now after so mich time had passed already...

If the NHL Knew of this new evidence indicating Ottawa withheld knowledge of the details of Dadinov's no trade or even failed to do due diligence to find out such details before trading Dadinovto Vegasxand Vegas not knowing that Dadinov could void subsequent trade from Vegas to the team they then tried to deal him to ,and the NHL foubdcthiscnewxevidrnce agaibst Ottawa but failed to tell Andlauer before he spent $1billion to buy the team,THEN it seems Bettman Nd the NHL are guilty themselves in this fiasco and should not penalize the new ownership with such a penalty that Andlauer had no part in.

That the NHL years ago reversed a penalty of a loss of a first rounder when NJ Devils tried tradibg Kovalchuk without taking the team acquiring him that he had a no trade list of teams in his deal woukd imply Bettman did a favour to Uncle Lou that he apparently may not do for Andlauer...that would be unfair...so :

My expectation is that Andlauer will appeal and Bettnan will either remove the penalty given Andlauer was not informed by the League before buying the team that tge NHL might decide to penalize Ottawa after the e-opened investigation findings came back OR at least reduce the penalty to a 2nd rounder or later round loss of a puck.
It woukd seem Bettman and the NHL have some culpability for this mess ...AND that tge NHL to avoid such cases I fiture MUST institute a Ce trial Registry of no trade list teams for alk pkayer contracts and yo make such list transparent for all clubs to have access to.

Otherwise, cases like this could happen again.

THAT this mbarrassment for tge Senators AND the NHL occurred 9bviously forced Dorian to resign as Ottawa GM (or maybe Andlauer told him he would fire him unless he felll on the sword and took the blame for this mess by resigning..

Either Dorian knew details of Davidov's no trade list and tried sickering Vegas to deal forvm without telling them OR he did not know such details in which case his due diligence on his player's contract was a negligent die diligence i his part.

In either case Dorian had to resign ir be fired..

However if Dorian himself was lied to by Davidov's agent about these details of a no trade list of teams THEN even if ygatxexobetatedDorian ,he probably still eoukd have to felon tge sword and the the blame because losing a 2st roubd puck out of this mess is a terrible PR fiasco between the Senators and the team's fans...

This entire mess NEVER would have happened had Emperor Bonaparte (Bettnan- tge littkecGenerak) had the brains to insist on a Central Registry for ALL details on no trade destinations when contracts registered with the BHL such that any NHL team cN look up the details before they trade for a pkayer.

That such transparency does nit exist in the NHL is astounding fir a va so-called Professional Major Sorts' Laugue as tge NHL claims to be.
That they could let tge Same deficiency fester alk those years from the Kovalchuk case to tge Dadinov case is just unforgivable...Bettman shoukd be ashaned he never bothered to easily fix the transparency issue all tgese years since Kovalchuk ...so what we end up with us a Bettman clown show now and you have angry Ottawa fans and 2 other NHL cubs who can gloat they got justice in the pain Ottawa caused them ...when instead the NHL itself is the most guilty of all the parties in this fiasco...There was no need for this to happen ...The NHL itself should have a site where team lawyers can go to seek ALL derails of any no trade lists attached to pkayer contracts..That tge NHL had no such site in place so many years after the Kovalchuk shenanigans by Uncle Lou,is both startling and stupid.. Bettman's negligence for not providing this easy fix ,is Unforgivable.. He needs to Dallas on his sword and admit he too was negligent in letting such a fiasco ocurr when he simply could have fixed the tranparency problem once Nd for all.

The NHL is a joke.

Buyer beware... but it certainly seemed intentionally for this situation, that they held it off until the purchase was finalized

A beauty of a goal by Skinner for Sabres called back on another millimeter-close offside. I know it's only Philly they're against, but Sabres looking like their rebuild is going beautifully.

Kaner would do well to go home and play with the promising kids.

On another note: Philly goalie, Hart injured, leaves game.

I’m confused as to how the league office doesn’t have a master document with all player’s NTCs and NMC conditions. They don’t have to consult something like that before approving trades?

"The Hawks only lost $2 million," is going to be the rallying cry used againat every organizational punishment for the next decade.

But yeah, the Sens attempted to trade a player in violation of his contract. That's fair, whataboutisms notwithstanding.

And to be clear, the Hawks should've been fined more, and if the league wants to implement draft or cap punishments for criminal matters, that's a conversation certainly worth having.

People said oh Shane Pinto is getting a worst suspension than any blackhawks. Yet Stan and Q clearly want to return but have been defacto suspended over 2 years and ongoing and need Bettmans approval to return. A rare good thing for him that he hasn't given them an ok.

Oh goody, another opportunity for every meatball with 2 brain cells to rub together to come together and circle jerk bashing the Hawks when they have no f***ing idea how the system works.

I am beyond tempted to state my soapbox defense of how it isn’t f***ing possible AT ALL to forfeit draft picks since nothing regarding the incident was violated with the CBA like Arizona or NJ but the Reddit hivemind outrage that has come downstream to braindead takes here will continue to use the same pretzel logic regardless.

It’s so f***ing brutal and annoying as Blackhawks fans having to wear the moral implications and guilt they make up, as if WE were complicit in the sexual assault and investigation which was mishandled by the business operations.

Someone please explain the logic behind an organization fining draft picks for a viciously twisted tragedy which lost us an 11OA prospect already.

Domino affect assumption, but if we had beach… do we ever sign the bickell contract? Do we then keep teuvo also or danault and whoever else?

WHERE WERE THE CALLS FOR THIS WHEN WE DRAFTED REICHEL, OR NAZAR/KK

P.s. “criminal acts” which have nothing to do with on ice performance being affected positively like cheating by holding satellite combines for undrafted prospects or blatant cap circumvention which violate the CBA should absolutely have zero affect on a team’s draft stock or handicap the salary limit. How fast the league would freefall into kangaroo court like the NBA/NFL for nonsense with the weaponization of the CBA would be insane. I’d give it 3-5 years, maybe, before private incidents and bullshit allegations start affecting teams in a major way, and the power of media makes incidents like price or Crawford going into rehab due to opioid overprescribing by team doctors a pronounced shitshow, or worse— (I.e. Crawford rumor about being busted in a crack house as a result of team mishandling etc).

P.s.s. And anyone in that main board thread who brings up Hossa is forgetting the fact we’re paying a recapture penalty on Keith right now, we needed him badly even if he was a 50-60 point guy before LTIRetiring

Should it really be the leagues job to intervene to feed information to every team every time a trade is talked about? Absolutely not, it's up to each team to inform teams they're negotiating with what the terms of a players contract are. It's not that difficult, really.

It was hugely negligent of Dorion not to correctly inform VGK what the terms of Dadanov's contract were. Absolutely no one at fault but Dorion.
