To be completely honest... I don't see anything egregious there. I'd be the first to call out Marchand for being dirty. I hate him. This is a nothing play with a bad result, which is probably why there isn't much reaction from the bench.
Have to agree, and I hate the rat. That's just a hockey play gone bad.

Even if it's just a hockey play gone bad, you don't give Marchand the benefit of the doubt, ever. And you don't sit on the bench with zero reaction or smiling in Bertuzzis case after your own teammate had a pretty serious injury, at least imo.

We have the benefit of watching it in slow motion, the players just see two guys going into the corner and your own teammate being dumped to the ice by the rat. I'd be fuming personally, even if I thought it was a normal play gone bad.

I think the Bertuzzi thing could be taken out of context here. A lot of people will smile like... "sarcastically" while shaking their head as if they are laughing at something stupid Marchand probably said. Sarcastically may not be the best word here, but I can't think of a better one right now.

Like I said, the rat is so sneaky dirty that when he injures players there is always a doubt whether it was on purpose or not. I won't be fooled again, as The Who would sing.
It's not a normal play when a player pitchforks another as he skates into the corner. The victim is left defenceless and injury, sometimes serious is often the result.

EDIT: I just found out that the Leaf Dman is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. Another Marchand victim on the IR.

Kevin Lankenin & the Preds just rocked the Oilers in their horrible spiral to start the year

Still early but didn't see the Oilers, Flames, and Penguins being the teams at the bottom with the Hawks/Sharks.

Man, there are going to be a lot of salty folks when Chicago and/or Pittsburgh win lotteries ahead of San Jose.
I was thinking that last night. Hawks at least tried last year. SJ is not even breaking a sweat and getting smoked every night.

San Jose is what happens when you take a collection of failed projects and waiver pick-ups and throw them together without a cohesive system or the right veterans to lead you through the pain.

Obviously we know which team is destined to finish last in the league. Hopefully that will hush the excessive tank speak.

Like last season, it's going to take good luck to get the #1 draft pick.

It's never only about the 1st overall pick. But being 11th best is less likely to be a pick that is in the elite tier where to be a contender you need multiple
