The Pens brass being fired probably still happens with the dysfunction in Pens front office that has now been revealed.

A quick exit from playoffs doesn't change that situation IMO

Hextall being hired to blow it up and new ownership coming in and saying "Not going to do that" put him in awful spot

True. But him showing up to a meeting with new ownership like a kid that scribbled his homework down on the bus-ride to school kinda makes him look incompetent regardless of plans changed around him.

Not a rehash at least. I won't pretend to know anything about a former minor league and assistant NHL coach, though.
I don't get the infatuation with people liking coaches who have never coached in the NHL. People shit on "rehashed" coaches, yet look at the Cup final coaches. And 3 of the final 4 had rehashed coaches, with the 4th one being an ex NHLer. Experience matters.

So many of these coaches and GMs bounce from team to team. It looks foolish when a franchise is trying to correct years of failure only to hire a guy who has been a part of the old boys club.

Good for Washington. I won’t pretend to know anything about Carbery but it’s refreshing to see a new face. Maybe he brings new ideas and a new way of playing to the league.

It only looks foolish until the team is successful, mostly due to the product they have on the ice. I don't recall when the last time a team hired a guy who had never coached or barely played in the league, and the team all of the sudden became successful. People act like if you hire a guy who isn't part of the "old boys club"(a dumb term) all of the sudden you'll be way more successful than if you hired a coach who is a retread. I just don't get it.

I understand there are some coaches who have never been successful that keep getting rehired like a Gerard Gallant, but the ones that have had success, I don't see a problem with teams that continue to hire them.

Dubas to Treliving is a hilarious downgrade.

So obviously the Leafs are winning the cup next year, cause hockey gonna hockey.
