Nolan Patrick going to LTIR

That has to be the worst pick made post-Yakupov

EDIT: Okay to be fair, worst pick made post-Griffin Reinhart

No not really as his injury issues have been crazy. He had groin issues in Juniors but I don't recall concussions and migraines being an issue (unless I am just forgetting).

The definition of "Star" is pretty poor here

There are several guys drafted beyond 1st round who were star players in NHL during career at some point who fail to meet this criteria but were very much stars

Looking at some names not listed from early 00's

Patrick Sharp (2001)
Tomas Plekanec (2001)
Mike Cammalleri (2001)
Jason Pominville (2001)
James Neal (2005)
Milan Lucic (2006)

Cammalleri was one of the more exciting wingers in game early in his career, Lucic was for stretch the premier power forward in NHL and Sharp was among faces of Hawks during height of success

This is why arbitrary nonsense stats, or narrative tailored #'s are poor way to judge things

Even if you switched the requirements a bit... let's say Sharp is in if you remove his last 3 seasons, and several others are in for similar reasons, and the percentage moves from 1% to let's say 3%... his point is still extremely valid.

Cammalleri was the first name listed.

Name a forward who's beneath his criteria that would be considered a "star".
Oh yes, we love to celebrate the perception of who are our stars, no matter how incompetent they are without the puck.
The truth is .... preventing goals is as important as scoring goals ... in fact it can be argued as more important at crunch time. Two-way players are the ones who win Cups.

It's easy to find forwards who will work hard and be defensively responsible. Much harder to find guys who will put up 70-100 points...

There's a reason Nashville hasn't won a cup building teams full of grinders that you love.

That should read "offensive" stars. Winning hockey involves much more than points per game.
Theres only a few in that list who arent what I would consider a star. Winning hockey always needs guys who put up lots of points too, regardless of their defensive shortcomings. (Kane/Hawks 2010-15)

Stars make the most money. Nobody is paying a defensive forward 12 million dollars.

Obviously.
The point I was trying to make was, that using the barometer of .7+ PPG is no way to truly evaluate a player... particularly when it comes to dmen.

What do dmen have to do with anything? The list was a list of forwards. Using .7+ PPG is a perfectly acceptable piece of data to help determine what forwards are stars...

Yeah there's not a chance in hell Chicago finishes dead last. Arizona will be unstoppable.

Luckily for us Gary won't let Arizona win the lottery, and instead rig it in Chicago's favour.
