Don't worry everyone, he has Leafs bed sheets. Another win for Dubas.
His dad died a few years ago if you didn't know or remember. Probably why he said that.

So Gaudreau is walking away from a massive overpay
And won't be able to play in his hometown
What's his plan?
Gotta be, right? Why would he walk away from all that money unless he has a guaranteed dream scenario lined up?Just me or does this stink of tampering and he’s got a deal lined up elsewhere already?
I would happily take Noah Cates, 2023 2nd rounder and 2024 3rd (if Flyers make playoffs this year) for 100% of JVR.Will Davidson help them hurt themselves like he did for Dubas?

I don't see KD getting that after only moving up 13 spots for Mrazek. I would love to land that but getting Cates and a 23' second rounder would be a nice haul...then move JVR at the deadline lol!Florida first or bust.

So ends an era in Calgary.
Era feels strong.
Hossa won more cups than Johnny won playoff rounds.8 years on one team is substantial enough. That’s a whole Hossa.

Just saw that Vegas trade Pacciorety for future considerations. WOW. That franchise couldn't have had a better start aside from winning 3 more playoff games. They had an instant team culture that was really effective, they had a great prospect pool, and they had people wanting to play for them. They've been slowly ruining it season after season, deadline after deadline. Way too aggressive with their roster moves and unless Eichel becomes a top 5 player in the league they'll probably never contend for a Cup

He's at least in the same time zone and he cut off more than a day's travel one way.Logic stated that Gaudreau was headed closer to home in NJ or Long Island for less money than Flames were offering. Instead, he still accepts less money and heads to Columbus, 9 hours from home. A real head-scratcher.
How often do you suppose Johnny would travel to and from either Columbus or Calgary, and New Jersey, in season? My guess is infrequently. He's at least in the same time zone and he cut off more than a day's travel one way.
He went from A list Canadian celebrity to D list American celebrity too.
Yea that was the whole point of the second half of my post. How often do you suppose Johnny would travel to and from either Columbus or Calgary, and New Jersey, in season? My guess is infrequently.
More likely, Johnny couldn't stand being under the microscope in a rabid hockey market. The heat will be off in Columbus. He'll be able to return to his underachieving self.
It must've been hell playing under a coach who demanded, and got, the best out of him.
