Closer to family, further from the Cup. I guess we know his priorities.

No way. Calgary even if he stayed wasn’t winning anything anytime soon. They didn’t really have a window to go for it, but any window they did have was slammed shut.

Columbus has drafted a ton of young talent lately and if it comes together might have a shot.

Calgarys' window has slammed shut, but that's because Gaudreau left. Had he stayed, I don't think we would be saying that they're done.

I think the team has flaws in the way it's constructed. And Edmonton exposed them. But there would have been a pretty good chance of a rematch next playoffs, had Johnny stayed.

As usual, the big question for Columbus will be whether they can retain talent long enough to become a threat. Johnny is very much the exception in the league, the guy who ran to Columbus instead of away from.

Disagree. Even if he stayed they didn't really have a window with Gaudreau and Tkatchuk needing new contracts, if he even stays himself. Not to mention a fragile goalie and less than impressive blue line.

They'd be a playoff team, but far from a legit contender.

Agree about the blue line, but I think Markstrom is capable of being much better than he showed against Edmonton.

At any rate, I think, had Gaudreau stayed, they would have been capable of getting to the Conference Final.

Agree to disagree.

Grier has not impressed me thus far

I know its early, but this signing is pretty atrocious

Of course, my view on Kunin is pretty low at this point so maybe I am biased but that AAV for him is absurd

Sold Burns which have to be good in long run.

The Flames seem to be imploding. JG leaves money on the table to go to Columbus and now allegedly Tkachuk is going to be shipped out.

Feel for Flame fans

Things seemed to be going in right direction for organization now it's all going downhill

Trading him at this point is probably best option for them

If I could get out of Calgary I would explore that option too. Don’t think they’re a contender even before those two get their raises and not somewhere I’d want to be stuck all winter.

I am not sure what the return is going to be for Tkachuk. I dont think great. Maybe it was the best option to take the low price from the sens than lose Debrincat as a UFA for nothing in 2 years. Hes still not signed in Ottawa.
