That would be smart on Hawks part and Davidson has worked with both GM's in recent days
if we did get involved and ate cap for Murray for him to go to Toronto... THAT would be helping them out. But you don't want to help them out by making their prospects that they desperately need weaker?

I’d be fine with signing Samsonov.

Mrazek is injury prone and he has some talent. I wouldn’t expect much but best case scenario he figures it out and potentially becomes trade bait. Worst case he’s still bad which helps the tank and is just a backup anyway.

That contract for Nishcuchkin is silly. The guy was a 40pt player max before this year, and is always missing time with injuries.

That's what a Cup does though, as we all know too well. Reminds me of Bickell and Saad a bit.

GM's tack on these extra years to manage the AAV. Who cares what the term is if you can keep your core together right now during what's certainly the best chance you'll have of winning? It's a bad contract in maybe as soon as 3 seasons from now but the Avs best chance to win is in the next few seasons when MacK and Rantanen are still in their primes. Makar is probably going to be elite for the next decade but Colorado still needs their best forwards playing at an elite level if they're going to win more Cups.

I just remember Bickell's unfortunate contract and how consequential it was for the team. It's a big decision to make when it comes to signing middle six forwards or not. Goalies and 3-5 Dmen too. It doesn't always work out and in a cap league you can't afford to waste cap.

Regardless the contract is probably the better move for Sakic and I'd bet it pays off. Last year it was a big decision with Landeskog, now it's Val, next year it's MacKinnon
