McDavid will get his, eventually.

But this is the year for McKinnon and Makar. This Avs teams is on a f***ing mission.

That Mike Smith tantrum was epic. Love to see it. And love to see him lose AGAIN in overtime. Bahahahaha.

The Oilers would have been much more enjoyable without Mike Smith and Evander Kane.

McDavid and Draisaitl are insane.

I know you folks love to hate other teams and players but who can blame Mike Smith for being pissed when his clearing pass goes off the ref right to the ops, resulting in a goal that turned out to be season-ending for his team. Anyone would be pissed.
On another note: SN reveals that `it wasn't just Draisaitl who played with a rather severe injury .... Nurse also played through a torn hip flexor. His quote:
“I tore my hip flexor, so dealt with that for three series,” he said. “Everyone is banged up this time of year. our medical staff, T.D. (Forss), taped it up and gave me some anti-inflamms and you go"

McDavid could have had himself a 50 pt playoff campaign. That’s just insane.
Yep. McD and MacKinnon were both dynamic. And some of the SN crew were speaking of Makar in the same sentence as the great Bobby Orr. And the first time in history the comparison to Orr is a valid one. Makar can do everything and is a treat to watch.

Is the implication that the ref shouldn't have been there? Or that he could somehow have avoided the Smith shot?

The ref was where refs commonly are when the play enters the zone. Smith saw, or should have seen him. It was a badly executed clearing pass, and the blame lands nowhere but Smith.

Obviously, the ref has to be somewhere. It was just a bad break and was typical in this series. Avs are a fine team (I picked them to win the SC) but the puck was certainly bouncing in their favour which often happens with great teams. I can understand the frustration that Smith and the entire Oilers team felt in this series.
