How in the hell is that a Byram penalty? I’ve never understood that about hockey. Retaliation for some bullshit shouldn’t be treated the same as intentional goon shit by Kassian

Smith is so bad it hurts. Or at least it would hurt if I was an oiler fan. Smith/Kosk is the worst goalie tandem on a final four team that I can remember offhand.

The Avalanche’s analytics team has put together a hell of a team. They already had an analytical guru in Arnik Parnass, but they lapped the field when they hired @DTMAboutHeart (who developed the WAR model in hockey) just before the Duchene trade. From Sakic giving his hockey buddy Roy roster decisions in an absolute trainwreck to the best-built team in the league.

Obviously you have a core of high draft picks, as does any powerhouse. But to supplement that so effectively over the years with undervalued possession monsters in fleece trades and bargain FA signings. Its poetry.

Girard, Burakovsky, Nichushkin, D. Toews, Kadri, Saad, Cogliano, Lehkonen, etc. Is there a single guy there they didnt get at below market value?

Crazy smart, progressive team. They’re going to get squeezed by the cap but they’ve proven they know how to fleece value out of #goodhockeymen.

Boucher got 6 wins in 10 starts those playoffs fwliw, he also came in to relieve Leighton twice in the finals with the hawks.

On paper this Avs team is solid now and in the near future.

It's getting more and more frustrating watching Byram play because I wanted him drafted here instead of Turcotte/Dach/Cozens/whichever Center prospect Bowman and Kelley wanted. He's looking real comfortable out there playing in the WCF and shutting down the best player in the world and Draisaitl.

Dach better turn it up or at least turn himself into a Jordan Staal-esque center or that draft pick is going to be a huge waste of a lottery win.

The majority of this board around 75% consistently voted they wanted Bynam.

I never did though, just because I didn't see him being good enough on his own to be a #1 but he doesn't need that to thrive in Colorado
