NHL 24 Discussion

I’ve only played one hockey game online,NHL 2k7. It sucked and was such a bad experience with the person complaining and harassing me that I swore off online sports games. I’ve never opened up any online mode in any ea sports game or played hut, never will. It’s always sad to see franchise mode get the shaft.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon - but it has been almost twenty years! at least give it another try. My favorite is online mode with FIFA - all the same bullshit.

Was losing 1-0 at half time and the opponent just kept the ball the entire time passing back and forth until the game was over.

EASHL is pretty great if you've got people to squad up with

Big, if true.

Here's another video from Eki talking the technical test:

Some points from his video (his opinion, not mine):

Pro
- Passing
- Movement
- Hockey IQ is rewarded
- new hitting system since it required more skill

Neutral
- Pressure system. While he likes the idea, it is too overpowered (fast to fill) and easy to fill (standing around instead of shots, passes, hits)
- back skating. While he agrees that it had to be toned down, it was too much

Negative
- AI still basically untouched
- Goalies are bad (still amazing to wristers / slapshots in front, let in too many goals from the side)
- some glitch goals are still in

Because it does nothing. Oh and let me guess, you just pass it up and the clock resets for you to bring it back. Game blows because some people are actually satisfied with these nothing “improvements”.
There's a lot of valid criticism of this game and franchise... then there's what you do in this thread

Please show me where my criticisms are not valid. Over a stupid penalty being called if you stand around for 3 minutes? That you can likely easily avoid as well? Do you work on the game or something, or just a massive fanboy to the game?

It's true. They'll rag five minutes on the clock, get the penalty and then rag the puck to kill it. The vast majority of people who play this game don't know how to defend against people who abuse the LT and they chase hits.

This is also only really implemented in H2H, which means the game quality in WOC is also going to remain relatively poor outside of clubs.

I also don't see the benefit of the ice tilt meter. There are teams that cycle along the perimeter and punish the teams that chase. The teams that don't chase keep them on the perimeter until they make a mistake. EA thinks it's logical to penalize the defending team?

Great, another tool for trolls to use and intentionally get penalties against their own team plus tire out their teammates as well

Some people don't treat a video game as if it's life or death.

Guy who does nothing but abuse back skating complains about it being nerfed. What a surprise.

I read somewhere that they've also brought back legacy goalie controls which hopefully means no more of the tethered system. If that's the case, I'm actually considering buying the game bc everything else seemed fine to me.

What would it take for a die hard hockey video game dev to make a good hockey simulator (at least for 6v6) that could blow the EA series out of the water in enjoyability without all the stupid garbage they put in then pull out then put back in to make it seem like it's new?

I've never understood why a company hasn't felt the desire to steal the WoC idea and run with an online pay-to-play model. Maybe this is one of the reasons why the game hasn't been in PC for years.
