I know it’s fun to bash the game, and it certainly deserves plenty of it. But for those of you with an Xbox X or S playing franchise mode anyway, I updated my franchise mode roster today. I think I fixed my earlier mistakes and figured out the potential system a little better with some play testing

Its called Franchise Mode Roster 3, and my tag is VladDimitri

I only play offline nowadays BAP + Franchise modes , sometimes a bit of shootout if I'm feeling frisky .
shootout may be the move bc your teammates in BaP are gonna be a real drag lmao. Player simulations are still pretty brutal too from what I've seen

Honestly I would stick to 2023. I really enjoyed that game. Way more fluent, easier to control. Hitting was legit.

24 is all about momentum swings, and annoyance.
Hitting is better in '24. You can battle in front of the net again and not get chintzy interference penalties.

There's definitely a lot more nuance this year to the controls. You have to mean to do things. Mistimed hits stand out.

The momentum meter is what it is, but I think its only there for a year to try and change the way people try to play the game. The best players/teams in Chel have dominated on the cycle for a few years now. It's hard to beat those teams trying to score off the rush.

I feel like this year it is all about defending with big hits, which I really don't like.
Hits create quick-counter opportunities if you can recover pucks fast enough. Both teams have to react quickly to changes of possession.

But I still think that defending is still about picking your spots to close on puck carriers. Mistimed hits/pokes/blocks can give opponents clear lanes. It's still about keeping guys to the outside, protecting the house.

Overall i like this game more than several of the previous iterations. I like things like the return of hitting people into their bench haha

I still feel like the game is uneven though, and its as if it runs on scripts sometimes. I can play the same team twice on HUT, at the same difficulty, and have one game that is way too easy and one that is way too hard. There are games where your goalie lets in 1 shot out of 3 while the other is making 1 out of 15 and other where the dumbest goals go in and the game is boring because it takes forever.

My players are also idiots! Im not even controlling them and they get 5X more penalties than the AI. They routinely get in my way and cant move aside. I've also noticed a lot of situations where the refs stop the play inexplicably - usually around a body check near the boards, the game will act as if the puck left play but it doesnt. Play stops but no reason is given, though one time the commentator said something like "ref must have lost sight of the puck" , which is stupid when you are near the boards next to the main faceoff circles

How someone can think NHL 23 is better is blowing my mind. While this isn’t great either, it’s miles better in basically every way.

World of chel is dying a slow death, it's so sad to see. I miss the old days in pubs where we matched all the best players consistently. Tons of them have just stopped playing now since the game has been on a steady decline for several years now. EA, you should be embarassed you greedy f***s

So playing BAP with Red Wings.... Noticed at the beginning of the season that Seider was now on the Sharks. At the end of that season, I saw that SJ won the lottery and still had it's pick...

So that means that not only did the AI not try to sign Seider, it didn't even bother to RFA him. They just let him walk. Same with Raymond.

What a joke. BAP AI should have the same logic as Franchise. If you want to play on your favorite team and progress with their young players, forget it. You have to edit the roster and assign extensions to them or change the player's contract.

This can also happen to Bedard. He will just walk.

The sooner garbage like that dies, the sooner they start to try to make a good game again.

In terms of game play, NHL 24 is a massive improvement. I'm amazed anyone would prefer NHL 23, unless they only want to score the same three or four goals over and over and over again.

The new game is riddled with bugs, to an almost comical extent, but the game itself is lightyears better. I was playing 6 v 6 CHEL the other day and we scored two late goals to tie up the game at 5-5 and one of the people on the headset pointed out "We've seen ten goals in this game and they are all different goals. Last year, I didn't see 10 different goals all season." When I thought about it, it was kind of incredible, because it was true.

I have been having more fun, WAY MORE FUN actually with NHL 94 Rewind.
I wish they would put this game online.
So much fun!
This would be fun for about 5 minutes until all the old men and/or dads that battle it out in the old school NHL 94 tourneys you hear about from time to time decided it was time to teach those old whippersnappers a thing or two.

My friend's dad was one of those. If you like losing games 24-0 because they know the game from pixel to pixel, be my guest lol.
