The path is open it can be taken. As long as its possible to take the path don't risk drafting him. Ducks are not a hot spot for players. We have already seen multiple players didn't want to play for the Ducks before. We don't even have a coach yet and might not have one by draft day which can effect his choice to keep playing college hockey at least for 1 more season.

If we do draft him when he hasn't committed to playing in the NHL right away I will immediately want a new GM and wont care what anyone says so don't bother trying, I wouldn't take the risk drafting him. We are not a franchise that should be taking risks like that. Call me paranoid if you want.
Ok, You're Paranoid, this whole situation is outrageous, should we have passed up on Zegras too? he went back to college, he could've left us, but whoop-de-do of course he f***ing didn't because top draft picks pretty much always sign with the team that drafted them, this whole fear of college players abandoning us thing has to go away at some point, 2 defensemen over 10 years apart did it and they where both 2nd and 4th round picks, not top 10 picks, Fantilli isn't going to waste 4 years of his career in the NCAA just so he doesn't have to play for the Ducks.

Yes, you are paranoid. And you are saying we should never draft a college player again because they might not sign? Can’t do that.
How many times do we have to be burned before we say lets not try that again? Regardless risking a 2nd overall pick is much worse then much later picks so I can at least understand somewhat rolling the dice on much later picks.

Devil's advocate here, because...well, I've had a few drinks and I haven't watched tape because I didn't want to commit to watching highlight reels.

Do we think there's a potential Byfield situation where Fantilli succeeds currently purely because he's "a man amongst boys"?
No. Byfields hockey IQ was always a question mark for me. I used to watch draft prospects a lot more in 2020 when I had more free time, so o had seen more Byfield than I have seen Fantilli, for example. But, Fantilli and Byfield I can say confidently are completely different players. The man against boys things works when you’re 6’5 200+ points playing in the PHL against 16yos. It doesn’t work when you’re 6’2 playing in the NCAA against 18-26yos. He’s a man amongst men, if anything.

Thanks for the correction. It just seems like the Ducks are the one team that consistently moves down. I guess it's good they finished last because they were guaranteed a top 3OA. It's just a bitter pill to swallow after this crappy season.
the ducks and detroit drop in the lottery every year

I think we should hold on to him. Push towards playoffs and reevaluate at the deadline.
I just wonder if there is a trade to be made to get us back in the 15-25 range... there are some interesting forwards in that range that id love to add.

Sorry, I don’t agree with that thinking at all. And neither does anybody else here. Your paranoia is causing you to refuse to look at the situation logically. He just won the Hobey Baker award as a freshman. He’s not wasting 3 more years in college because he hates the Ducks or SoCal that badly. Can’t make it any clearer than that.

We have three second rounders (33rd, 58th, 60th) and a third (65th). It'd probably take three picks to make it happen.

Sorry, but this is a terrible line of reasoning. There is ZERO reason to cut us off from drafting any college players because of the very small chance of the loophole being used. We'd be an absolute poverty franchise if we had this line of thinking.

I can assure you, Fantilli will not play one more minute of NCAA hockey in his career. He will be going to the NHL next season, whether us or Columbus draft him.

Only organization in the league where bedards mom feels safe by Connor doesn’t.

Let’s see Rangers 1&2
Canadiens 1
Chicago now

Nothing to see here

Auto correct and bad eyes fix

You're failing to understand context at all with each of those situations. If you can't see a difference between Schultz / Thrun to Fantilli then I'm not sure what to tell you.
