If your going based on that tweet above your post, it's the tweeter that is trying to figure out who's on his list - not Rob Blake.

But it's 4/10 and he still hasn't hired anyone. This should have been in the bag months ago.

McLellan will bring badly-needed structure. I don't care if his fault is not making adjustments, or "chokes" in the playoffs. We aren't making any noise for a couple of years, and if it turns out he can't get a future, better team over the hump, we bring someone else to replace him. In the meantime, we can develop young players and - with McLellan's system - may actually resemble an NHL team again.

Perhaps the coaches he is targeting were not ready to sign a contract months ago. From all reports TMac has not decided which team to coach. How can Blake force him months ago to sign an agreement when the coach is not ready?

From Blake’s post season interview, it appears he has a long list of coaches that he has compiled. I suspect TMac was on the top of the list, and if he doesn’t sign, he will move on to the next choices.

Choke job? Nobody had them being as good as they were that season, and they were a win away from the Conference Finals.

By those standards, any team that doesn’t win the Cup is a choke artist.

Game 5 in Anaheim. Up by three goals with less than four minutes left in regulation. Blow it. Would have been up 3-2 going home. Historic collapse.

Bottom line is he has been at the helm of more than one historic collapse.

Being a Kings fan all my life has made me develop a close friendship with Dissapointment. The disappointment and anger I felt was all too familiar yesterday. Landing the top 2 pick was pivotal in Shaving off few years off the suckage. But they lost out of that as well. Now that TMac is going to be the coach of the Kings as well is the cherry on top.

Going to be borderline impossible to care for this team for the next few years.

What a kick to the nuts this entire season has been.

I won't be happy until Blake and Luc are put down. Their amateur mistakes and country club mentality is killing the team.

I want to care but I just can't. I guess the only positive I can take is that I really liked SJ's system when they played us in the regular season even when the Kings had a strong team. Made us seem like we were just skating around lost even when we were dialed in against most opposition, and that drop pass with pressure up the middle always seemed to give us problems. If he can implement a system where it actually makes this team watchable again, I guess that's a positive. Outside of that, the playoff collapses are a major concern, but who knows, maybe he's learned from them.

Breaking news just in...the Kings have hired Jules Winnfield to be their next coach. Jules speech on being a good teammate:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Coach when I lay my vengeance upon you."

I think the Kings do need to have a coach that makes the team God fearing and wrathful.

Jonathan Quick is really gonna miss your support. :dm:

I mostly agree with you, this team was gonna be unwatchable no matter what but a top two pick certainly would have helped. Now we're probably gonna draft another LHD and continue to not be able to score a lick. :thumbd:

Look at the bright side, if Blake is wrong about McLellan, this will be his last coaching hire and he’ll be gone.

Dean swung thrice and finally got it right the third time, until both him and his coach both struggled to adapt.

Yeah, it's gonna be hard to care. This is going to be a miserable team. It's pretty clear. People who are cool with Top 5 rather than the second we got don't realize the different tier of skill we missed out on. The only saving grace of this miserable team was top end talent.

Now with a bad Coach in MacT and dropping three spots. It's just extremly disappointing.

Luc and Rob just need to be let go at this point. The country club mentality is absolutely toxic to this team.

I never thought much of Hartley, but the more I read about him the more I'd be OK if Blake hired him (from the pool of rumored names). Sounds a lot like Sutter in that he seems to get the most out of players. Granted CGY missed the playoffs 3 of his 4 years, but that one year they made it is when his team went apeshit on the Canucks. Not a fan of either team, but that was one heck a series for CGY.

The worst part of that list is that those are all people he knows. It's not the best coach available, it's which one of my friends are out of a job right now.

Were you around for the Lombardi years? Because he did the exact same thing. We were called Flyers West in part because of all the people he brought over from his time in the Philadelphia organization and Sutter was his coach during his tenure in San Jose. It is fairly common to hire people that you know and have worked with before, people you can trust.

The same Hartley who Scott Parker said all these terrible things about recently. No way.

Why are the Kings allergic to Vignault? He is a better coach than TM in my opinion and based on history.

The Kings were also called flyers west because of Gagner Richards and Carter.

Just because it worked at some point doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. The right thing is to look for the best coach available. Not best friend available.

And when Lombardi came over to the Kings it's not like he was a former King either.

I'm tired of former Kings getting executive positions and then they go around hiring for their buddies. I understand that it happens, but it's wrong and lazy that it does.

When they hired WD do you think they actually looked? Nope.

Lombardi's father in law is Bob Pulford, so there most definitely is a link to the Kings. Executives are not hiring buddies to just hang out and f*** around. They are hiring people who they have worked with before because they know them and know how their tendencies. In high level environments you need to have a team that you are familiar with.

I'm not a big Hartley fan, but who cares what a bum like Scott Parker thinks. He should be thankful anyone put his name into an NHL lineup.

That list is pretty terrible, and I am not interested in AV. Blake is being foolish by only looking so close to home. Roy is slightly interesting because he could certainly light a spark under the team, but I doubt he would be effective in the long run. To be honest, this veteran group has seen every coaching combination possible. If they don't get TMac then I think they need to go find some fresh blood and stop recycling the same 40 guys endlessly.
