Roy is not a good coach. He might be a good drill sergeant, but that's about all.

Agreed, he is a terrible coach. But if he has anything, he has a good yelling voice lol. In the end, every single name on that list and out there right now is either terrible or stale. Blake really should be looking for a new hardline coach. The league in general needs fresh blood behind the bench.

More cronyism from the LA Kings.

Once again, the biggest mistake AEG made was not completely cleaning house in 2017. Instead they fired 2 guys and promoted everyone else. Because you know, promotions for idiots like Yanetti and Stevens just made so much sense.

Agreed 100%.

If Lombardi and Sutter deserved the axe in 2017, everyone else did, too.

It’s going to take several more years of awful seasons and ridiculous expectations for Uncle Phil to finally snore himself awake like in 2006 and bring in a brand new management team.

He played the hell out of Vlasic, Couture became a complete player, as did Pavelski, he used rookies like Jason Demers, Justin Braun, Devin Setoguchi posted his best numbers playing for him, Brent Burns broke out thanks to McLellan, there are countless others I can list that many will continue to ignore because people are still stuck in 2014.

Blake may hand him an old roster, but McLellan isn’t shy about using young players.

He also wasn't shy about giving big minutes to Hertl, Nieto, and other youngsters as they came in.

I've had issues with McLellan but saying he doesn't know what to do with youngsters is an unfair evaluation, I think he stands a chance of being a good roster manager and systems implementer. My biggest issue with him stem from being on the other side of the rink, where he looks like a mental midget and unable to make mid-series adjustments, and those comments came off as whiny and accountability-less which is the last thing this roster needs...but we should be so lucky to be in a spot to lose a playoff series due to coaching at this point. I have no qualms with regular season Todd McLellan, let's worry about that next step when we get back there. If we have to go with a crony re-tread, that's the best of the bunch.

..however, if we don't land McLellan and end up with one of those other Blake nepotism hires? I'll supply the pitchforks. That's inexcusable.

It's been 5 years of doom and gloom...how much more can we take?
I've been a Kings fan since 1982 at the age of 10 and went thru all those years of mediocrity til 2012. 5 years is nothing after winning two cups in the last 7 years.I understand the disappointment as a fan, but I trust the path.Ive had the pleasure to celebrate 10 Laker championships,2 Kings Championships,5 49er Superbowls and two Dodgers championships.I've been bless with successful sports organizations.

Yeah, it's gonna be hard to care. This is going to be a miserable team. It's pretty clear. People who are cool with Top 5 rather than the second we got don't realize the different tier of skill we missed out on. The only saving grace of this miserable team was top end talent.

Now with a bad Coach in MacT and dropping three spots. It's just extremly disappointing.

Luc and Rob just need to be let go at this point. The country club mentality is absolutely toxic to this team.

Well, I mean what choice to we have? It's not like if I sit here and raise my blood pressure it's gonna change our draft order. 1 or 2 would have been great, but nothing we can do about it now.

You should

As far as caring next season: it won't be worse than this year and most of us watched this shit.

Most of us will be going in expecting them to draft Top 5 again. Only way it gets frustrating is if they are rolling out Legends Night every game while the young guys stay at 10 minutes a game.

Once again, this magical list of coaches comes from Elliotte Friedman, and he doesn't even attribute a source to it - it just reads "The assumption is." What a nothing speculative list to get outraged about.

He was speculating, giving his thought on the idea. He didn't say it came from a source, a hunch based on Blake possibly choosing someone he is familiar with . Of the 3 (Tony Granato, Bob Hartley and Roy) I like Granato.

From LA Kings Insider
Notes and reports on the coaching search; 31 Thoughts; Futa; Stothers - LA Kings Insider

In addition to what Blake shared Monday – a structure-instilling NHL-experienced head coach with high-level championship experience, preferably – there is also the evolved organizational thrust in lockstep with league-wide trends towards skill and speed in which they will be looking to outscore their opponents, so-to-speak, rather than build an identity around their more familiar smothering defensive ways. They want offense.

They need to go in that direction, esp with the young talent coming up and yet to be drafted. So hopefully , they seek out a coach who can do that. And if that is the case, Blake needs to move some bodies out, too many players on the team are not built for speed.

Obviously they saw it was working so well in Edmonton. :sarcasm:

Right. It just seems so many posters here seem to believe that this is actually Blake's list and are reacting as such. I certainly don't like the list, but I'm not going to react like it's a fait accompli.

It’s all a smokescreen boys, Kings are waiting till the Jets get eliminated to ask permission to speak with Jamie Kompon. :sarcasm:

Time to put the band back together boys.

Ron Hextall is available.:sarcasm:
Dean is should be available as a scout for the Flyers.:sarcasm:
And Terry Murray who I believe is currently an assistant coach for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.:sarcasm:
Last but not lease John Stevens.:sarcasm:

I believe they will be somewhat better next year and most people here will be complaining that they aren't bad enough.

Kings aren't making the playoffs for a while anyways so we won't even have to worry about his teams choking and him making lame excuses rather than making adjustments.

What did Yanetti do? If you think he's the reason they didn't draft well, DL had the final word and wanted a low skill, high character team. How many skilled guys did they pass up on because they didn't meet that? My guess, a lot. Also, you can't get good players when you start in the 3rd round. Once again, on DL.

I was kinda hoping last season and this season that Tortorella would become available at some point. I think he would be fantastic behind the Kings' bench. If only...
