McLellan couldn't get a veteran Sharks team to win 1 game after going up 3-0 against us.

I have very little confidence that he'll get our lazy veteran players to respond.

One positive is if he fails, Blake and Luc are gone.

As much as I didn't want him (Give me Keefe), he did almost get EDM to a WCF before the old boys club they got there reared its ugly head, and those Sharks players were mentally soft long before him

Waking up to more bad news. So shocking.

Kings also play the safe bet - hiring Stevens and now TM.

Even Lombardi going with Crawford was the safe bet - he made a out of left field move to hire Terry Murray, which worked out and then even stranger one with Sutter, which of course worked out.

Seems like when Kings go off the map it works and when they recylce the same ole guys it doesn't.

Fans want a coach who works well with young players, team hires a coach who has a history of integrating young players into prominent roles, fans unhappy with said hiring.

You keep trying to make this point and bring up players like Couture and Pavelski as examples. I don’t buy that TM is known for developing young rosters. Any NHL HC with similar experience has a similar pedigree if you just scratch the surface.

It doesn’t matter because Blake is going to hand him an old roster.

He played the hell out of Vlasic, Couture became a complete player, as did Pavelski, he used rookies like Jason Demers, Justin Braun, Devin Setoguchi posted his best numbers playing for him, Brent Burns broke out thanks to McLellan, there are countless others I can list that many will continue to ignore because people are still stuck in 2014.

Blake may hand him an old roster, but McLellan isn’t shy about using young players.

Sutter wasn't a 'strange' move....he had many years of head-coaching experience...just not a popular move.

Only other guy i'd would have considered was Keefe, but he wasn't going to leave the leafs, let's see the results before assuming it's a bad hire.
We spent so many years hating him, its going to take time

I think you have chosen to heap praise on McL and ignore the roster Doug Wilson gave him. When McL was with Edmonton it was a much different story. Where’s are the Oilers who broke out under him?

His story with Edmonton was one playoff run with McJesus and the stink town. The Kings are more likely to get Edmonton McL than SJ.

Another day, another L.

Blake probably threw more money at him after bombing in the lottery. Just wants to win something.

Our coach is the dude we reverse swept. What a timeline this is.

I feel like Im living in Bizarro World. I wonder what it would take to get AV, or if he even has any interest in coaching here

How were Murray and Sutter not safe bets? Both had been the coach of 3 different teams before the Kings. Lombardi even had Sutter once before. If anything, Stevens was the non-safe bet. He was the least proven of the bunch.

and what about his time in Edmonton?

It’s Edmonton, their upper management is a joke and McLellan was let go when his team was one game under .500 with a 9-10-1 record 20 games into the season.

He turned a 70-point team into a 103 point team, just three wins shy of 50 with the Oilers. After that season, the Oilers got rid of a lot of scoring depth and speed when they got rid of guys like Eberle and Letestu and Pouliot, and they also lost three of their top four defensemen to injuries.

Just look at how much of a mess they remain with Bob Nicholson in charge.

How good has Edmonton been under Hitchcock?

How often has Edmonton made the playoffs this past decade? Why don't we examine the crap roster Edmonton was handed to TMac?

His great Edmonton season included another ultimate choke job in the playoffs.

Whatever. We are going to suck anyways. Hopefully he can have a Terry Murray effect. Five years seems long though.

Choke job? Nobody had them being as good as they were that season, and they were a win away from the Conference Finals.

By those standards, any team that doesn’t win the Cup is a choke artist.
