I'm fine with players recognizing they need a coach that holds them accountable. I mean, why does any team have a coach if veteran players are supposed to run things like you guys suggest?

They went deep three years in a row and got two championships out of it. They went to war on the ice for those victories. They got comfortable and I guarantee the motivation to get back to that level just wasn't there for a lot of them. It's painful. It's exhausting. Vacation is shorter. More time away from home. More stress. It's a human response. What they're discovering, hopefully, is that it's really not that great being losers. Some of these guys weren't here for the really bad years. Brown's commentary about being drafted into a culture of not giving a shit about winning was really interesting. Notice how he keeps putting work in even if others don't.This is a valid point; but, isn't it at least somewhat ironic that the team did in-fact have such a coach not at that long ago, and the players basically mutinied? Was it just him personally; or have these same players come to the realization that a Sutter-type really is best for their respective games...?

I think Sutter's personality and style were particularly abrasive. He's one of those coaches where people always say he has a short shelf-life (Hitchcock is another). And his style, while effective, did seem to grind the players down physically (and probably mentally). I think there's more than one type of coaching personality that can hold players accountable and "kick their asses" when necessary.
This is an entertaining (as in ironic) quote from Tofolli
I like that he spoke candidly - but he has shown the least amount of hustle out of the entire roster over last 2 seasons - so its funny. Its also an indictment of the leadership of this team not just the coaching.Hurry, let's be good hockey fans and jump down his throat for daring to speak candidly....

Is this from a hockey themed Dr. Who episode?
into it. I was bummed when they didnt give him the chance over Willie but now is the timeAlan Vignault?
Same way people constantly bitch about having to go to work, but when they're unemployed they're desperate to work.Hold on a second - so Sutter is tough on everyone and they get tired of him - so the Kings bring in mellow coaches like Stevens and WD and now they want a tough coach again? I am baffled.
