As others have said, the list isn't inspiring. I'll go the easy route. If Gally is still here, he'll be our next captain imo.

Suzuki's too young.

I'm not saying he can't handle it. I'm saying, why take the chance? Choose a vet who will be gone soon as basically an interim captain.

Perhaps Petry.

Yeah I was thinking Petry because I want Gally's contract off the books.

But best case scenario is for both to be moved in the short term.

Making either captain could only increase their trade value.

I hope its Anderson, only because I'm going to hate the new GM as much as the old one if they trade him for another soft small player. Please don't trade Anderson, build around players like this, give him and A or C

I think you can flip a coin between Gally and Petry. Depending on how each of them feel about staying for a rebuild. If either are chosen as our next captain. I can't see it being for a long term though.

Right now, Edmundson is the logic choice. One day, it's going to be Nick Suzuki.

I still think our biggest problem is lack of skill and talent. So I'm ok with moving any vets for real genuine young talent in a real rebuild.

For example, as soft as Drouin is, I think it's his lack of talent that hurts us most. Sure he has skills, but it's his lack of hockey sense that causes him to turn the puck over more than lack of size. Even at his size, if he had hockey sense, he would know how to maneuver along the boards to not constantly turn the puck over ...

Can you add Petry to the poll? His name has been mentioned in the thread.
Sure why not, poll edited even if I don’t see any leadership in Petry.
Savard added also because he won a cup and no one expects him to be more than what he is.

People voting the same petry that has been blaming everyone else for the teams trouble ? He comes off as a man child and definitely not a captain, he clearly wants nothing to do with a rebuild.

Petry definitely wouldn't be my first choice. But since he's one of the group of veterans. If he's okay with staying (I agree he hasn't shown a willingness to stay). He probably would be one of the candidates.

The team has fully invested in Suzuki. So I believe he'll be our next long term captain. If he had a year, maybe two more experience. He'd be a slam dunk choice. As for now, I'd like to see him continue to improve, without the added pressure.

Give it to Lord Byron till his contract is over and then Suzuki.

I'm a big Byron fan. But I can't see him being a part of the team for very long.

Just wait a season or two for Suzuki to mature some more and then give it to him.

Not a bad idea. But I read earlier that Hughes wants to name a new captain soon. So I can't see them waiting that long.

We should probably revisit this once we actually know who will still be on the roster. I wouldn't mind an Eddy transition to Suzuki but we have no clue what is going on with him either.
