Latest on #RedWings D Brendan Smith: Out 3-4 weeks with sprained shoulder.

Lou call them
They need Whitney.

Just not sure what EDM would take. They have enough forwards already.

EDIT: also, agreed with Rhodes, if MIN is willing to give us Seto, I`d do it. It`s a win-win situation no matter how you spin it.

I'd take Franzen especially if Volchenkov was going their way. We'd swap our crap deal for there's. And we'd add of course

Anyone else think Bernier is like the perfect comparison to what Palmieri will likely be in the NHL?

Good trade for the Rangers, but I wasn't aware that they wanted Rupp out that badly.

At least Franzen is consistent. Good for 55-60 points every year. Contract length is a huge turn off though. Cap hit is fine.

I don't see that comparison at all

Not playing style, but the role he would play.

He'd play that third/fourth line role, he plays strong on the boards, goes to the net. He's good enough defensively, but not going to be seen on a PK. If you need him, he can fill in on top six duty.

Ranger fans think they won the lottery. Holy crap.

Apparently swapping an NHL player for an NHL player and an AHL player fixed their depth issues.

Only if Palmieri ever learned how to use his size. Bernier always used his size, but was never going to develop into a premier power forward. That's what makes him an excellent bottom 6 guy. Palmieri won't ever succeed as a bottom 6 guy in my mind.

Palmieri did nothing in NJ to lead me to believe he can do any of that successfully.

That was two seasons ago. He definitely showed signs of being able to play like that. I said if he's ever going to cut it, that'll be the role he plays.

This is a great deal.......for us.

because at least we won't have to worry about Rupp trying to rough up Marty again this year. Oh and who was that player who jumped(literally) in Rupp's face and fell down during that fracas? Carter? I forget....

Would rather ride out Volch's contract then Franzen. His contract is disgusting and with his play he can deteriorate at any time.

For who? The Aeros?

If he wants to play in the NHL, he's going to have to do that, yeah, but I've seen nothing to believe he can do it.

Bernier and Rupp tossed him like a rag doll

NYR called up both Brandon Mashinter and JT Miller. You'll probably see both in the lineup tomorrow with Powe as they have 12 forwards now since Rupp was dealt and Ferriero was sent down.

They can't seriously think that? I like Napalm, but he isn't going to turn in that caliber of role player in the NHL. I just din't see it.
