Haven't really followed his progress this year (29 points in 42 games), but I thought he looked fantastic in the game against the Isles the other day.

Last season, he came up a little under halfway through the season in his rookie year as a pro and promplty went 15-24-39 in 47 games. Before that, he had 28 points in 24 career AHL games.

Right now, he's 6'2", 201 lbs. and 21-years old.

As a USNTDP grad and recent Boston College forward, seems like he's basically doing for Minnesota what we hoped Wahlstrom would do for us.
I also was impressed with his play the other night.

Since he’s a recent 12th OA pick it hit home seeing as we’ve routinely traded away first round picks for the last few years.

In the absence of a significant upcoming losing streak, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that history will be repeating itself. There’s no single move out there that will make me think that’s a good idea considering how this team is currently constructed.

Detroit still being bad is proof that Tampa wasn't a product of Yzerman at all
Well, when you take over a team with two franchise players on it at F and D, you have a significant head start. I’m not even counting having St Louis on the roster either.

I will give him credit though, because there’s a spreadsheet wizard in Toronto that has 2, if not 3 franchise Fwds and hasn’t gone anywhere since he took over from Lou. Not too much credit bc Yzerman was not the GM of the teams that won the SC.

I’m interested to see what happens with Larkin. He’s Mr. MI, does he resign? Or sign with LAK or ANA? Lots of MI relocate to SoCal only to move back after not wanting to pay the freight, but he shouldn’t have that problem…

Making $7m per year?

I think that's just Bill Guerin, who's still a relative GM newbie in the grand scheme of things.

I take it as a sign of him thinking Boldy's soon going to be a serious contributor in the 70+ point category.

But he's definitely banking on a risk in a time where the team is dishing out 13 MM in cap space to two players who aren't even on the team.

Tocchet leaves the NHL on TNT crew. I hope they don’t poach Thomas Hickey from us too.

Interesting move...

A few thoughts about the games last night. Jack Hughes is legit and looks like a hungry Matt Barzal years ago. Moving his feet, superior vision, and attacking the zone. I long for those attributes to return to MB.

I know the Isles cannot sign everyone as we are top heavy with contracts and roster spots. Lou needs to be shrewd this offseason to find value. Examples this past season are Frank Vatrano, Sonny Milano, and Evan Rodriguez. Cheap contracts and production.

Not sure to make of the Avs and their lack of production and swiss cheese defense. Injuries certainly play a role.
