We drafted Bellows over Tage Thompson. And full disclosure I would have picked Bellows. It hurts. Thompson scores goals like it’s nobodies business. Kid his size should move the way he goes. Insane.
I guess we were trying to avoid the inevitable nepotism comments seeing as his dad was coaching Bridgeport.

Awesome.

I remember one time in my other life, my buddy Tommy had Ranger season tickets. He calls me one afternoon and grunts " hey, you wanna go to the Ranger game against the Bruins?"

I say, sure, brawls, MSG beer, NYC bars afterwards, I am in

He says ok pack a bag, I'll pick you up in 30 minutes. I figure "cool, we're staying at our friend Eddie's house on the upper West Side." You know older preppie snobbish women ,fake names .I'll be ready

So we pick up another guy Kevin, roll up to Eddie's building, he jumps in and off we go.

Tommy starts driving in a way that leads me to ask, "where the hell are you going, the Garden is that way"

He looks back at me with a sheepish giggle and says "yeah, the game is in Boston you dope"

Hope you have as much fun as I did living the good times!
Road trip!

Good for him and Buffalo. However, he is a product of this new version of the NHL, that’s kind of bonkers.

He probably doesn’t even make it beyond the 3rd line, 5 years ago as the emphasis was still on using the body, defense, and goaltending. Due to his size, he would have been typecasted into a role (good or bad).

Some of these new games are a complete mess. Yeah, scoring is up, but some games are played like teams were chosen at center drawing sticks, then just played 60 mins. Anything goes. Games in the 80s there was a clear divide in skill. Now there’s skill all over, but just chaos on the ice at times. This is like early 90s before the Devils did their thing, but minus the brashness of the play and style.

As I recall, there were several drama queens on here complaining in advance about their prediction that Snow might draft Tage over Kieffer.

My experience with sports fans, as a microcosm of life is such that some people will always have to have something to complain about and those people aren't happy unless they're miserable

True, though I also find that drama queens from all walks of life, not just sports fans, never need a valid or even logical reason to create drama.

Very true, sometimes they invent it then thrive on it while wallowing in it while telling us how shit upon they are and we "just don't understand "

The skill around the league is ridiculous and it highlights where the Isles are on the grand scheme of things--pretty low. Watching the Sharks last night (a bottom-10 team), their offense/PP looks more talented than the Isles. They are quick, pesky, they work hard, and have skill. They also should rebuild and send Timo Meier here. Snow and Lou have assembled one of the slowest and least skilled forward groups in the league. And yeah, it frustrates me.

70s hockey was even better. Derek "the Turk" Sanderson told somebody to meet him in parking lot to brawl it out

I love the 80s too but 70s were a blast, WHA, Broad Street Bullies, expansion Isles, no helmets, a few goalies still without masks, bench clearing brawls, Espo, Number 4, Wow!

Those were the good old days!

Interesting. I see things now as being being very samey and regimented. The NHL feels very homogenized to me. I prefer chaos.

If Thomas Hickey were a stock we all missed out buying on the ground floor.

Congrats to him. Hopefully he replaces Keith Jones.

I was watching nhl network the other night and thought that was him. He still doing MSG or nhl network full time instead?

Too bad we didn’t hire Brian Bellows to coach Bridgeport. :sarcasm:
