Watching Toews tonight. He has his defensive lapses, but management should've done everything possible to keep him; I don't think they did.

Going backwards again I see. Thought this topic was exhausted last summer. Shoulda, coulda, woulda when at least at the time there were not many options

quoting NY Post article at the time:

“The 26-year-old restricted free agent filed for arbitration recently, prompting general manager Lou Lamoriello to make the move out of uncertainty about the future.

Lamoriello said trading Toews was a step toward freeing up cap, space, presumably to ensure the organization can re-sign RFA’s Mathew Barzal and Ryan Pulock. However, the GM of the Year said the deal wouldn’t have been made if Islanders brass didn’t feel they already had a player who could fill Toews’ void.”

“Noah Dobson, we feel, is certainly ready to take the next step so we’ll have to just wait and see,” he said.

Awesome.

I remember one time in my other life, my buddy Tommy had Ranger season tickets. He calls me one afternoon and grunts " hey, you wanna go to the Ranger game against the Bruins?"

I say, sure, brawls, MSG beer, NYC bars afterwards, I am in

He says ok pack a bag, I'll pick you up in 30 minutes. I figure "cool, we're staying at our friend Eddie's house on the upper West Side." You know older preppie snobbish women ,fake names .I'll be ready

So we pick up another guy Kevin, roll up to Eddie's building, he jumps in and off we go.

Tommy starts driving in a way that leads me to ask, "where the hell are you going, the Garden is that way"

He looks back at me with a sheepish giggle and says "yeah, the game is in Boston you dope"

Hope you have as much fun as I did living the good times!
Nothing beats a good ole hockey trip

Did you get your tickets yet? If not be advised it's Ryan Miller Night so it will be pretty expensive to get in.
Not yet no. We are afraid of the snow possibility so holding off til last minute. Thanks for the tip. Do i get a ryan miller bobblehead?

I wish this quote of yours could just be pinned up on these boards somehow already. These are direct quotes from Lamoriello stating why this trade happened.

We also have direct quotes around the trade deadline stating that the projected CAP for that years was going to be 3-8M higher. Which I have previously posted and not going to waste time looking for again.

Unfortunately, that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked COVID shut the world down. Otherwise, the Isles would not have been pinched to sign him.

Seems like teams who won the off-season free agent cup (Calgary, columbus, Florida) aren’t doing too well.
That's generally the case, I feel. But then again, most thought Seattle had a nice offseason adding Burakovsky and Bjorkstrand, and they're doing quite well. Beniers is a much bigger reason for that than Bjorkstrand, of course, but Burakovsky leads the team in scoring.

f***ing idiot. This pisses me off

Don Maloney on John Davidson and Keith Ballard/Thomas Vokoun are the only other times I've seen something like this, an injury caused by a player trying to hit something and whiffing, injuring their teammate.

Okay, let's assume we can negotiate an extension and it would cost $8,750,000 a year (so Barzal isn't topped)

A) Do we wnat him at that number for 7 years at age 27?
B) No, we don't

What do we offer if A)

Beau (partial salary offset), 2023 1st, Raty and Salo for Horvat and Burroughs would be my thoughts

A lot of chatter on the main board that any team who pays $8mm AAV will be sorry. I don't know if those posters are trolling or not...

Maybe. But there's some serious consistency here.

Also offers a chance to either play Nelson and Barzal together, or even look at a complete revamp.

Horvat -68 for career while our Kid who won the calder is exactly even Weird eh? Granted Horvat has played 200 more games I believe. Think Horvat would be a great addition, slide Nelson with Barzal and let's play some hockey Horvat is a great at the dot too
