How do the Rags continue to get assets for limited players at a value far above what any Isles fan would dream of in a comparable situation?

Reaves at $1.75M isn’t a big deal but how does that bring you back literally anything? He’s barely playing and when he does he’s a liability.

I guess this is the life we chose as Isles fans.
Get some muscle, he’s a known lockerroom guy…and knows the WC and those Golden Knights.

I don’t get it. We have players who suck. We don’t get rid of them. :sarcasm:

It's a matter of perspective, from both a fan level and a league level. The Rags have leverage to purchase "name" players, and they do so. These players have cache around the league from teams that don't have the same purchasing ability that the Rags do.

Teams like the Rags are stock traders. Teams like the Isles are self sustaining farmers.

The insinuation here is compensation for Bellows vs Reaves. Two completely different stories here IMO. The Rangers may have made a big mistake here. This will be interesting to watch as the toughness, grit and leadership on the Rangers just took a big nose dive. Curious how Panarin and Zibinajad feel about this.

Reasonable point regarding Bellows though I wasn’t thinking of him particularly.

Ross Johnston might be a better comparison considering his heavy game. Ross is a guy you could bury for the entirety of his deal without any significant cap hit for the acquiring team. Every now and then his name has come up on this board as a candidate for the Isles to waive with the assumption that no other team would pick him up because of the length of his deal. I don’t think any of us here think we’d get a fifth round pick back in compensation.

Let me also point out I don’t think we should waive or trade Ross. I like him right where he is. On the bench.

The whole point of Ross's contract is to give him security and so he could play a role without complaining about it. He would definitely be claimed by someone like Toronto. We are asking the guy to basically sit most of the time and go to war when he's dressed. That's a fair tradeoff for a player who will never play above the 4th line for any stretch of time.

I think the Rangers are more than happy to trade the toughness that Reaves was bringing for the cap space they gained and flexibility at the deadline. He's not really a useful player any more.

A pioneer and a great player!

Didn’t expect it this fast after his ceremony in Toronto a week ago.

There is always a dumb GM willing to help out the Raggies. And Guerin is the epitome of a dumb GM. Amazing that he has been there since 2019 and accomplished so little. But at least he gets to pay out $14 million or so to players no longer on his team until 2025.

What a third period comeback by the oilers over the rags.
Lmao - finished putting up the rink boards, came inside, put on MsG at the start of the third, rags up 3-0 and I thought wow edmonton hasn’t scored in forever. Turned on South Carolina Clemson game. Watched that to the end, to turn to MsG to see them walking off losers 4-3 lololol

Same here, put on the game and saw it was 3-0, figured it was a good time to walk the dogs and get outside.

Next thing I know, Raggies Twitter is melting down.

Such a shame, guess they need more phantom PPs, lottery picks and superstars to force their way to rathole MSG in order to compete.
