Seems like the isles have played a lot of games so far, and 6 more in the next 10 days.

Jarmo should be fired immediately. He is a reactionary GM who simply looks at "talent" and names with no clue how to build a team or evaluate mental fortitude.

His only saving grace has been that his scouts seemingly helped make some good draft picks to keep him afloat over the years.

Or he's just gutsy and ballsy in what may otherwise be the blandest market in the league?

And I dunno, for example, how many other GMs would i.e. rake in a Gaudreau for a market like that.

I am not a fan, he has systematically destroyed the defense and goaltending over the years.

He backed into Gaudreau more than anything else, based on location, who is a luxury when the center depth is severely lacking.

Four years for Gundbranson? Woof. Felt like a panic move.

$14 million to a luxury and a traffic pilon is real tough.

The guy just doesn't seem to have a long-term plan or idea how to build a balanced team, just looks at "talent" and flashy names.

He is essentially the anti-Lou IMHO.

I agree with you on Jarmo. That documentary on the Blues draft on the NHL Network showed how well he, Armstrong and Davidson worked together to build an eventual Stanley Cup winner.

We complain about FA's signing here. Columbus has to be brutal to recruit to.

Gudbranson was an eye opener for term and money but he felt they needed a guy who would protect his players and EG has been one of the better fighters for a long time. He definitely overpaid for it though.

He made a great trade for Laine, getting Roslovic too for a player who basically quit on his team.

He's one of those GM's who are respected far more within the NHL circles than on fan boards. Particularly when drafting. He started with the 2013 Draft and his record is not too shabby:

He's done well in later rounds . . . Bjorkstrand, Gavrikov, Nutivaara, Bemstrom

Sillinger at #12 is the top producer so far from 2021, and he's looking like he should have gone higher now.

Texier at 45. Wennberg is a solid player.

It's a brutal market. No need to call for his firing; it's not like Bill Torrey would be itching for that market.

It’s getting more and more galling to watch Tage Thompson joining the top players in the league

12th goal tonight and as close to Mario Lemieux stylistically as anyone I’ve seen

Just an amazing combo of reach, speed and skill

And Verhaege with 9 even strength goals

He knows where to go and how to finish. Wahlstrom should watch video of him.

My guess is Wally never really figures it out. The allure of his shot will keep him in the lineup and the game, however, he needs to be more Hull-like and put himself in the places other people aren’t so he can score. Hull was never fleet of foot, find the blind spots and areas where he could be in a position to score.

The flames vs Panthers was a fun back and forth game. Flames won in a shootout.
It seems like the entire conference is getting loser points. Meanwhile we’ve come away empty handed 7 times already. Something to pay attention to.

Ok fine, take away the wins against Calgary and Columbus and we’re right there with Florida then.

Who would have parlayed this one before the season?

Goals per game
NYI 3.30
Toronto 2.95

Goals Against Per Game
NYI 2.75
Toronto 2,70

And Boston is #1 in BOTH . . . 4.16 GPG and 2.11 GAPG
Those are Dynasty year numbers.

Everything about this team is a management failure. It’s too bad for them because they really should be a top 3 team year over year during this era.

I just looked and was surprised JT is the only one of the big 4 with trade protection. Then, I looked deeper and the other three have trade protection in the FINAL years of their deals. Bizarre each of those deals are structured with no protection a majority of their term, yet in the final year, they get it.

The only way Toronto improves is with a new management team and that team makes the big move since they have no ties to the ‘promises’ made to the Big 4. Marner has Kirk Muller written all over him if you trade him. JT ain’t going anywhere. Matthew’s is allegedly a Dubas loyalist and a top 5 player in the game. Nylander is a bit of prima Dona, but can he excel without the other guys as someone is paying for that production.

Kubas has created a giant mess.

How did Ryan Reaves play his way off the Rags?

He's only played 12 of the 20 games, has no points, is a -5 and has 12 PIMs, so there's not even that part of the game. He's from Winnipeg originally. Maybe he asked out? 5th round pick going to NY.

How do the Rags continue to get assets for limited players at a value far above what any Isles fan would dream of in a comparable situation?

Reaves at $1.75M isn’t a big deal but how does that bring you back literally anything? He’s barely playing and when he does he’s a liability.

I guess this is the life we chose as Isles fans.
