ESPN’s top 100 NHL players list

Easy to criticize a list like this but here we go…

No Pelech and no Dobson. Slavin (great player) is #69 yet…..
Trouba is #74
Seider is #38
Chychrun is #99
Seth Jones is #97
Darnell Nurse is #62

Also

Kreider is #81: one better than Sorokin at #82

As for the last 2 players I listed. Ask every NHL GM which of those 2 players they prefer irrespective of age and contract. Not a single one would choose Kreider. That’s bad enough but having Trouba on this list at all is laughable.

The only good things last night are that San Jose stole a point from the Raggies and Ottawa beat Washington.

Nashville was useless to us.

The most obvious vacancy is to replace Keefe. Just imagine that...

Never a good sign to be scoreboard watching with 76 games to go!

Much too early to make any real judgement on this team after only 7 games.
I think most folks had us still competing for the Stanley Cup after 7 games last season.

New coaching staff, Top 20 overall in scoring, top 10 in goals against.
The powerplay still trying to figure it out.
Best penalty killing unit in the NHL
Solid defensively
Solid in goal

3-4 record with no goals from Brock, Barzal.

The only game that stands out that makes you scratch your head is the Devils game.

Hopefully they start to work some kinks out over the next 7.

Haaaa. You're right!

But the Isles don't play every night, so I have to justify my interest in other games going on as well.

In essence, I've entered this season feeling FLA, TBL, CAR, and PIT are surefire playoff teams, likely at the top. I'm not worried about their wins, even if I hope we beat them a couple of times. More power to them though.

I'm also consigned somewhat to the fact that TOR and BOS are very, very, very likely playoff teams, unless something there goes very wrong. Could happen. I've felt NYR will be as well, but primarily because of Shestorkin, Panarin, Fox, and Zibanejad. Just can't see them out unless one or more of them fall out for a longer stretch.

Thus, we're up against the rest for the final playoff spots.

I'm admittedly not ready for Buffalo, Detroit, and Ottawa to join the fray of playoff contestants.

But I'm not worried about early season success for teams like the Flyers. They'll come back to earth. I initally thought the Caps would be the team we absolutely have to stay ahead of.

What bugs me a bit is that the doggone Western Conference is clearly worse than the Eastern Conference.

Colorado and (for my liking) Dallas are the only the teams I see regularly beating their eastern foes.

Can't even count on Calgary or Vegas to do it continuously.
