Not sure there was any way he could call out his team without being a bit disrespectful.

- It's a team they should beat
- They are better on paper
- They have many players making big bucks

Probably decided the message was too important to care about the other team's feelings. That's my two cents anyway.
I understand what his point was but he 100% could call out his team by saying that his team played like shit - and listing the ways they played like shit - instead of saying that the other team sucks (i.e. has no elite players). We get what he was trying to do, but all throughout the history of the NHL, coaches have called out their own teams without delving into the other team's personnel. I won't ascribe any mal-intentions to Keefe (I don't think he MEANT to insult the other team) so I guess you have to chalk it up to him being in-artful as hell or just having a brain fart.

His comments add fuel to the fire of the team having issues from the top down. Instead of just being a player issue, there seems to be a coaching one as well.

....And what about that 2-handed chop to the face from Kuznetzov? Haven't seen something as blatant as that since Chris Simon's two hander (which happened to be directly in front of me while I was sitting on the glass that night).

He's gotta get at least 10 games right?

It was definitely him calling out his team but in doing so he disrespected the opposing team/players. Doesn’t have to be his intention but it was still disrespectful.
i remember Arbour never doing that. he lit many a well timed fire under his team's asses but he never mentioned the other team unless it was complementary. it's just classless pure and simple.

if I were Toronto ownership, I might be on the phone with Barry Trotz to see if he's had a nice rest and if he wants to come in as GM/Coach. that's just me though

Sad news:

Pretty painful for many of us who followed hockey back when the first Swedish players came to the NHL. The abuse this great player was put through by so many of the 'goons' of this period was way out of line. I don't know enough about ALS to say if all that abuse had a cumulative effect or not, but if it did, shame on those back then who played the game that way.

One of the players I respect the most. There would be no Nik Lidstrom if there were no Borje Salming

Very sad. And they go to Canada to get medicine that can help him, and it's confiscated at customs entering Sweden because it's not approved there? Terrible.
