Man I am seriously bummed out about the STM renewal. I bought in right before the ECF run in 2019 and the team is basically evicting me from my seat with this price increase.

Really really sucks to know I've dropped a solid $25k+ for just one seat over the last few years between regular season and playoffs and to be kicked out so they can make even more off some corporate schmuck just doesn't sit right.

I mean if what I'm seeing really is what I'm going to be dealing with next year, I'm going to drop and enjoy spending my money elsewhere.

I was assured the grandfathered price would remain only for the rug to get pulled out about 8 months later. I only have a couple tickets right now and haven't had any luck exchanging for 4 somewhere else to bring my kids, so the value just isn't there anymore.
Sounds like something you could present to social media/your ticket rep as a promise … if you have it in writing.

Phone calls.

It is what it is. Not my rep's fault, he's been great. Just the Canes pushing out long term fans to chase more short term cash flows.

Wow I'm glad I read this because it made me check my STM invoices and I saw a gigantic bill like WTF?? For whatever reason they jacked my plan up to a 22 game, which is just a non-starter at this point. Even going to 11 games is an ass pain, especially now that every swinging richard in town comes to the games now and parking is a nightmare.

What I'm concerned about is the playoff ticket scheme for 11 game plans going forward. I don't mind limited tix because I dont want to go to every single game but if they get rid of pay-as-we-play I might be out.

Looks like they are allowing every plan to do pay-as-we-play for at least 23-24...

Appreciate it, but I won't be getting any statue or anything like that. The list of people who would likely be getting hardware was listed in the nomination back in November.

Like I said, I'll take the honorary Emmy and just subtly add "Emmy-award winning" to my resume ;)

I think you can say member of Emmy-award winning broadcast pretty confidently on a resume. You might even get elected to congress.

The double edged sword of wanting a competitive team that spends money. It’s the fans money they ultimately wind up spending. It was inevitable and it really sucks for loyal fans that went through 10 years of bullshit to get here. Unfortunately the price of success. I think they could probably have done more for long time legit ticket holders. At least give you a heads up this was coming.

My heads up was seeing the increased invoice

As of last week we were being told to expect a 8%-10% increase. Ended up being 100%. There's no way to budget for that kind of blindside. It feels like they just kicked us out of the arena because they feel like they can make more money with newer friends rather than continuing to roll with the ones who brought them here.

My wife and I had talked earlier this season about possibly increasing our STM allotment. Now, I don't know if I'll ever go back to being a STM again.

I haven't been following all these posts, but are you saying it was a 100% increase on the same seats for the same number of games? Ouch.

Yep.

They stripped us of our Pure Hockey status and bumped us up to full price. Jumped from $60 per ticket to $118. Been in contact with others in our section and everyone is pissed that this happened.

Was "pure hockey status" a discounted rate? and now they have less sections at the discounted rate?

This wasn't quite what I had in mind, but it's the spirit of what I was talking about last week:

At risk of being overly cynical about this, I think it’s much more likely that the partial STMs get pushed out, rather than the resellers.

I seriously doubt there will be any significant crackdown on resellers, until they are good and sure they're capturing the full value of existing STMs. 11 game plan holders will be pressured to go up to half-season, half-season plan holders will be pressured to go full, Pure Hockey will go away, eventually the Fan Zone will go away, discount nights are already almost extinct. The goal is to get to the point that the building is 80% full with 41-game STMs, and the 20% which goes on single-game sale will be set up for "dynamic pricing" to exploit the lack of supply on marquee games.

THEN they'll get around to doing something about the resellers. Maybe.

Looks like MSG is launching MSG+....not that they have to worry about the Bally fiasco. The article also references NESN's streaming service. Both are $29.99 per month.

MSG has Rangers, Knicks, Sabres, and Devils. NESN has Bruins and Red Sox for about the same price. Dominos?

Not to negate the good team, fan base increase, etc. reasoning behind ticket prices going up but my thinking has been the broadcast income uncerntainty leads to raking in as many more dollars wherever they can. Can't blame them.
