From Newhook traded to Canadiens by Avalanche

The Habs have such a huge misconception on Newy:

"He's not the tallest player (5-foot-10, 190 pounds), but he plays a heavy game."
Wut? Heavy game?

"He brings speed to our team as well as character."
Character? Nothing special there.

"He can play at center or wing, on the power play and the penalty kill"

Not sure about the C part and certainly not on the PK.

No wonder they paid through the nose to get him.

They must have scouted a 5minute YouTube video and made those conclusions

Draft Nyolausson at 27 to give MacFarland a pick. He'll bust and never make the team, but maybe we can trade him later. Trade 31 for Meloche and Greer, but at most draft Nouveaumeloche. Take the other pick and pick 37, and fleece some team with another Toews trade. And for the love of god don't re-sign #37.

The fact we still have these draft picks vexes me greatly. Someone promise me we aren't making those picks.

What I see alot with Montreal media is that Newhook didn't have opportunities with the Avs because we're so deep and that he was stuck in a bottom 6 role. That #2C spot was wide open for him just to be outplayed by JT2C. He had opportunities with Mikko and Mack but somehow plays died on his stick so it didn't work and I quite remember Mack being mad looking up when Newhook made a mistake.

It's like Kerfoot and the Leafs all over again.

Well he did say that he didn't think Newhook was getting traded earlier in the day and then went on and traded him so I say, yeah... it fits!

You can't FOOL US, CMAC !!!!

This plus @Richard88 being Joe Sakic means we've had the last two Avs GMs on this little corner of the Internet. We're certainly privileged.

Ooof, I just finished an excursion on the Habs board and they are convinced that Newie is a speed demon.

Telling them it was not the case made them testy AF.

Have a look at the Newie contract thread and tell me if I went overboard. I thought I was straightforward and honest with them.

Canadien hockey fans just have an extra level of crazy they can turn it up to.
