I think he has Lundqvist's passion for winning, but as a skater it's somewhat easier to go out there and challenge your teammates to follow your lead, or take advantage of the wake you leave.

Lundqvist was the unofficial captain of the team. Maybe still is but out of respect for him since he's not the #1 anymore. Loved the time he skated to the bench to give their asses a wakeup call.

Ziba/ Chytil/ Strome
Panarin/ LAF/ Kreider
Kakko/ Buch/ Krava

Gordon tried to be quiet today yet couldn’t appear to help himself during the media questions when he blurted out working the phones and center. I don’t think Strome helped his cause while landing Laf really forces the team to budget this cap. I don’t see Strome long term and certainly no highly priced Center despite some apparently ignoring the cap.

Does this sorta pump the breaks on the Mika for Captain thing? This guy has future captain written all over him.

I thought Mika was the only guy on the roster I’d even consider for C (and not floored by), but this play in round made me feel like the future C wasn’t in the room. Maybe Lafreniere becomes that guy in a couple of years...

.
My main issue with Strome is how totally ineffective he is when he isn’t with Panarin. Even with Panarin sometimes he is ineffective. As a stop gap C he is ok but he isn’t a long term answer

If Lundqvist comes back for another season then it might be nice if the league allows him to wear the C in his final regular season start at home. It would be a nice gesture (assuming they aren’t going with Shesty needing a win for the playoffs).

If that’s the truth, then even if the Sens offer #3 and #5, the Rangers don’t even blink. I wouldn’t have taken that offer even when this win was a pipe dream, and I’m even less enthusiastic about it now (assuming it would ever be on the table to begin with).

i wouldn’t gamble with a gift

I think that's where any offer would start for the Rangers.

Rangers need a center yet i don’t trust him. Especially with this flat cap.

No I meant just for the fans. Like set up outside on a big screen somewhere.
But the draft will probably be virtual anyway so wouldn't be as much fun anyway.
Yeah and you're right the city would have some strict rules limiting how many fans could attend.

Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I’m half asleep... was imagining you meant some fan/player event near MSG. They probably won’t, but if they set up some big outdoor movie theatre type event someplace with a giant bar or a beer garden somewhere then count me in!

Mike Rupp mentioned on the NHL network earlier he could see Laf on Panarins wing and also see him putting up 70 points right out of the gate. How freaking sick would that be?!?!I'm so excited I can't sleep lol

It's depressing times, so I'm happy to inform you all that The Rangers are probably going to win a Cup this decade, and maybe more than one. So let it be written, so let it be done.

Not all back pages are the same. Historic one

They were very high on him. Wouldn't have been selected over Zegras, but definitely someone in the mix if Zegras was off the table, or if the Rangers remained at the 20 spot.

Yea, I loved Zegras, but I’m assuming he is a non starter in any realistic scenario. Krebs seems like someone who *might* be attainable depending on how VGK’s playoff run shakes out (probably pretty well I’m guessing).

I think Laf on the team next year is also going to do wonders for Kakko ,as it's going to take a lot of pressure off of him and allow him to fly under the radar a little more-so to speak

I might be wrong, but I think it’d have to be something unrealistic like Tkachuk + 3 which the Sens could never do. You take 3 and 5 and one of those picks are underwhelming ... Lafreniere becomes the next Kane or Matthews and you might be on the unemployment line. It’s much easier/safer to just walk up to the podium and call the name.

I love Tkachuk...and I still wouldn't make the trade either

Zegras isn't going anywhere. Anaheim is in need of a rebuild and he's a central part of that effort.

I think a trade is possible, but not probable. I'd put the odds at 20 percent or less.

Lafreniere is number one on the Rangers list. The only way they consider a move is if they two guys in their top 5 and an another prime asset. And even then, I think they face the same challenge New Jersey did last year. If the top guy busts, you have some cover for being wrong. But you can't not take that guy and be wrong.
