Laf’s swagger is definitely noticeable in the highlights. He knows he’s the shit, like Patrick Mahomes knows he’s the shit when he’s making no look passes. Speaking of, I saw Laf attempt one of those himself in a highlight reel which is pretty awesome.

It's funny because you hear names like Messier, Forsberg, and it's not quite so much a straight style comparison, as much as its a mindset.

Lefreniere has a bulldog mindset. He doesn't want to have a nice run, he wants to complete the run with a championship. He wants to win and he's doing to do what it takes to be the alpha. And if you're another alpha, with the opposing team, he has no problem challenging you for that title on the ice.

I remember back in 2017 there was some chit chat that if you could combine Pettersson's or Mittelstadt's skills, with Andersson's personality, you'd have the top pick in the draft.

Well, Lafreniere is definitely a prospect that doesn't leave one wanting for much for anything.

I enjoy more .. for all those who didnt want to sign Panarin because it would hurt the rebuild aka it would hurt the Tank Professors on here, f*** your tanking

Rangers have done everything the right way. They’ve gone through the process honestly and admirably, and they have been rewarded for it...TWICE

Turns out you could combine Pettersson's skills and Pettersson's personality and you have a guy good enough for 1st overall in that draft.

1 day ago it seemed like either Zibanejad or Kreider was destined to wear the “C”. Maybe we ride “As” for another year? Lafreniere is a surefire alpha leader.

he hurt his knee and had surgery right before the shutdown. at the time he was expected to miss the rest of the season but be ready for training camp which would be around now...so it doesn't sound too serious but obviously he hasn't played yet and isn't in the bubble with vegas

as much fun as i've had with the frank the tank gif etc, there is not a doubt in my mind that the hockey gods sent the ping pong balls our way the last year cause we didn't tank and they tried to win every night

Even if they were exactly the same player, the extra ELC years for Lafreniere make him more valuable.
 
If drafted by the Rangers, Lafreniere should rock the 45 in training camp. The ultimate baller move would be at the home opener Messier handing him an 11 jersey to wear. that might need to wait a season or two. the reverse of Bourque handing Espo the 7 off his back.

I'll just drop in to note: in 05-07, the CHL followed suit with the NHL by bringing a crackdown on hooking. The number of PPs soared; almost twice what it is today. It led to a big inflation in numbers for CHL stars. Kane had a fantastic season, but more than half his production was on the PP; in today's CHL, he would likely have had a similar stat line to Lafrenière and Rossi (around 110-120 pts). Lafrenière's PP unit was actually slightly more efficient than Kane's from back then, but he got way less PP production because he got way less opportunities. It's part of why people were not quite as enthusiastic about Kane's season back then; he was seen as a slightly weak 1st OA at the time, and overshadowed by Tavares. Of course, he turned out to be a fantastic player in the end.

Congrats to Rangers fans on the lottery win! Will make for significantly less whining on the boards than some of the other possibilities, so everyone wins really.

Scheifele?
Monahan? Lindholm?
Cirelli?
Keller?
Barkov?

Likely won’t be able to get any/most of those guys unless you really overpay.
