So, on a fun, somewhat-related note, how much fun will it be to start a franchise mode in NHL 21 in a few weeks?
It certainly will be. But bittersweet at the same time not seeing Hank in net as the starting goalie.

Ducks are not giving up Zegras for anything he is the crown jewel of their system and really the only great asset they have. Newhook is a shout but Avs have no need for Tony with Makar manning their PP1. Also idk if I would want a prospect in return, rather a young already established NHLer like Tony is.
Just giving examples.
Plus, he kind of made JD look foolish twice. JD had no idea what his issues were. Lias and his people ignored his calls. When JD finally did establish a dialogue it was put forth that he would join the team. There were rumors floating around that he would come back. I think JD said he expected him back after the pause and Lias at the last minute changed his mind. He doesn't want to be here, whether it's fear or something else. He doesn't want to be here. He still wants to be paid, but not physically on the team. Anderson is an untradeable asset for anything noteworthy. Cut the losses and move on. If Anderson finds success with another NHL team so be it. The fit is just not right with the NYR.We were willing to give him another shot this year. He wanted no part of it. f*** him.
Are Newhook and Zegras still projected to be great top 6 centers (2C's)?
They can afford to overpay if they have to, to get that center.
And should, if that's what it takes.
He was on absolute fire to start the year, I think he has like almost 40 points in 15-16 gamesLafreniere's stat line takes a hit on the eye test because of the time he missed.
Otherwise I want to say it projects to something like 46 goals and 147 points over the full schedule. So he's producing at better than 2 points per game as well. But with a much bigger drop to the next player.
Lafreniere is unbelievably good at two hard to notice but important things.
One, his timing is impeccable. Two, he is a decisive motherf***er. The puck is on and off his stick in an instant off the rush, and his release on his shot is filthy. He doesn’t second guess himself.
Well, I mean, still make the deal suitable. Don't want to overpay for a middle-6 center, lolol.
That's why the move is the Carolina pick plus Buch. A roster player and a replacement first rounder for a guy who may be 2 seasons away...Ducks are not giving up Zegras for anything he is the crown jewel of their system and really the only great asset they have. If (let’s say we can predict the future) Kravtsov improves a decent amount next season, I would do Kravtsov (even though I love him) + this year’s second 1st round pick (or next year’s 1st round pick if you don’t like hypotheticals) + Georgiev for Newhook or Frost. And that is most likely too low on our side. But for Turcotte or Cozens, I’m afraid it will have to be someone like Fox straight up.Krabsaw + Tony D or Lundvkist for a Center?
Does someone shit in your cereal every morning or are you just this negative of a person?
First of all speak english. I needed Kreider a ton? You mean to say I was interested in the Rangers retaining Kreider if the money was right? Yes I was on board for that.
I didn’t know we had to be so serious and breakdown the math for you but sure lets run with it a bit.
They move Strome and Smith, along with not re-signing Fast and they have about the money needed for RNH and Dillon. They also would be buying out Staal. Hank comes off the books after next season.
Eichel, yea that would require more work. You need to move Buch’s salary as well to make him fit. Likely Chytil goes the other way as well. Yes youre going to end up with young players on your roster on ELCs and/or Vets making near the league minimum.
But hey be more of a debbie downer.

The place to get a young center may be Vegas. Glass or Krebs. Vegas needs help on the right side of their defense. Let’s see how the playoffs go for them.
I see what they’re getting at with the comparison. I’ve hard a hard tim placing my finger on a comparable player but that’s a good one I haven’t thought of. Laf and Messier are players who could/can go around you, in between you, and right f***ing through you.I say this cautiously, because it can quickly go off the rails, but I've had several people outside the Rangers describe him as having quite a bit of Mark Messier in him. Potentially as a 30-40 goal, 60-70 assist kind of player, and potentially as competitor.
What you're describing is the complete confidence Lafreniere has in what he's doing. The great ones have that.
I've been a big fan of this kid for a few years, and now I get to keep being a fan for a long time (fingers crossed). Gotta be honest, it's a really strange feelingWhere Lafreniere silenced any doubters was how he just kept growing and growing as the season went. Not just demonstrating offense and his skill set, but how he would push his teams along, or put them on his back, or just refuse to lose.
That was the moment people said, "Oh shit, this kid isn't going to ask for it. He's going to take it."
And Zegras should have been ours too if we didn’t win the lottery (if I remember correctly). If I knew the future, I would have traded down to draft Zegras in 2019.Glass should have been ours in 2017 anyway
There's a video comparing Laf to Hughes, just in a who's the better top prospect sort of thing, and man, watching that it becomes really evident just how versatile and just...driven Laf is as a playerI see what they’re getting at with the comparison. Laf’s swagger is definitely noticeable in the highlights. He knows he’s the shit, like Patrick Mahomes knows he’s the shit when he’s making no look passes. Speaking of, I saw Laf attempt one of those himself in a highlight reel which is pretty awesome.
This is such an underrated attribute and why many prospects bust, while others reach their ceiling. If only someone like Day was more driven.driven
Love the crutch comment “its not a video game”... classic way to open up your reply to try and denounce someone else’s thoughts and opinions. Deflect, deflect, deflect. There’s no hissy fit whatsoever, you started this with the sarcastic BS that you always provide around here when you disagree with someone. You sound like a fool.it’s not a video game and save your hissy fit. Good lord, move out tiny contracts for $10 million Eichel or a $6 million Nugent-Hopkins who is one year from UFA. Nice work, check your own cereal and save the Debbie Delusion.
