I am still 50/50 on the "Ottawa, what'll you offer me?" train, because I like Byfield, Stültze, and Sanderson a ton...
But based on my limited viewings, Lafrenière has some Gretzky to him in terms of not blowing the doors off anyone, but incredible in slipping in and around people.
People trying to pronounce his name: Bad
Couldn't agree more. This franchise can't afford to f*** this up by trying to be creative.Sorry, BRF, it ain't happening. Lafreniere is the face of the franchise for years to come.
I would agree with that, I'd put him in the Matthews/Kane tier.
In fact, Lafreniere's end-result could look eerily similar to Kane's. They are different players, who would arrive at their destination by different means. But Lafreniere's stat line and results could look very, very similar.
PatrickWe talking Patrick or Evander?
Because Patrick is >>>>>> X1000000 over Mathews/ Evander..
We haven't really seen Kakko's upside yet.So friggen happy. Kind of bizarre how we rarely ever get any assistance from the hockey gods anytime, any year, and yet the past two years, them gods have been treating us awfully nice.
Question for the @Joey Bones and others who spend hours and hours researching these prospects.....how friggen good is this kid? Are we talking Austin Mathews, Jack Eichel type good or is Lafrenier a tier below that?
From the highlights I've seen of him, he does seem like the kind of player who will have an impact right off the bat. I did also as did most of us in here, think the same about Kakko as well...just sayin!....lol
It's safe to assume Lafrenier has more upside than Kakko....yes?

He has Igor in his wayHe enters a young, exciting team in a large market and he gets an opportunity to compete for a playoff spot as a rookie. He doesn’t get that opportunity in Detroit or Ottawa or Anaheim, or any number of other potential landing spots. He doesn’t have to wait for his team to fill around the edges and catch up to him. They’re going to be in lockstep from the beginning. Even better: He gets a few months to get comfortable in Manhattan, where he can begin training with his teammates and learning the systems so that when the puck drops on his rookie season in December or January, he gets to hit the ground running. The combination of his late birthday (he turns 19 a couple days the draft), his 193-pound frame (word is he’ll be closer to 200 by opening night), his already powerful puck possession game and his versatile offensive skill set don’t hurt his odds at challenging for the Calder Trophy, either.
From the Athletic (Wheeler) - The very mention of the word Calder gets me f***ing giddy
Most probably they will use the pick.
What they do with their other first is anyone's guess.
This is not a player you trade or pass on, literally checks all the boxes of needs that we see for this team, especially the competitiveness after our showing against car. Your comment about future captain material is also interesting given that we seem to have a team with complimentary leaders but not that one clear cut guy. If we had that guy we wouldn't constantly have polls about who the next captain will be. We would certainly know.All-around offensive forward who holds onto the puck like a magnet, is incredibly difficult to seperate from the puck and who creates dangerous scoring chances whenever he's on the ice. Doesn't have blazing speed, but is really difficult to contain and catch because he sees the ice like he has a bird's eye view.
He sets the tone from the beginning of the game and dictates the pace of the game he plays in. I think he'll be a guy whose goal stat line translates almost exactly to the NHL (30-40 goals), but his true impact will be how he elevates everyone around him. He has 100+ point potential.
Could be this team's captain sooner rather than later.
Responsible defensively, incredibly competitive, doesn't get intimidated at all, and has a sneaky physical side to him. He wants the puck with the game on the line, but he doesn't have to be the one to score the game winner.
Lundqvist?Something this franchise has lacked since Messier.
Self-respecting hockey fans go to Dairy Queen....just not to Canadian locations, where Rangers fans aren't needed. > = PSir, this is a Wendy's.
This is how I felt when the Knicks didn’t get Zion.
It’s also an awesome wrinkle that Gorton has had Steven McDonald’s badge at the lottery two years in a row and we move up to second overall in 2019 and win the lottery in 2020.
