I've still got some concerns with age gaps and what those sorts of contracts could mean, but with a player of this caliber I feel a bit better

They had some f*** wad contracts too (Campbell, Huet, etc.)

Through sheer luck and some smart trades, Gorton has aced the construction of the upper part of the roster. The hard part is more than over.

Athletic scouting report on Lafreniere on 20-80 scale:

Puck Skills: 70
Hockey Sense: 65
Competitiveness: 60
Shot: 60
Skating: 55
Can't wait for him to have a meh couple games and the same characters to start calling him Derek Stepan lol

Reactions: Hi ImHFNYR
Rangers need toughness would anyone trade the 1st overall for Ryan Reaves. I think that is fair trade on both sides. We need a tough guy for our young talent. !st overall for Ryan Reaves. we might have to throw in a prospect as well though.
I am only joking of course

I hope that exclamation mark stands for 181st overall.

Edit: LOL nvm I thought you were actually suggesting we trade our other 1st rounder for Reaves.

Reaves is a generational tough guy.

How's this for scary?

Kakko has 90+ point potential. And he'd be the Ranges second best teenager.
I'm sure you saw what I posted in the draft thread about what I've thought about Lafreniere for a while now. While I liked Kakko and thought he was a very good player before the draft, I thought his hype train was running a little high, but being able to draft this kind of a player is surreal. This kid could be in the running for the big individual awards like, every year in his prime

Not to be a downer but does it worry anyone that both Kakko and Lafreniere have skating as their weakness in a league that's predicated on speed?

Serious Serious question. You think Quinn will give him pp1 time or the last 20 seconds of scraps on the 2nd pp unit?
If they keep Strome and put him out there with guys like Laf and Kakko getting the final 20 seconds of a pp I'm gonna flip out.

Strome is certainly gone.
Aside from not paying him short/long term, his mins need to go to Kakko, Krav, Gauthier, Lemieux etc.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t believe whatsoever that we’d win this lottery, so I know very little about Lafreniere lol. What are your grades? Feel free to add or do different categories.

I'm no scout, but I'll share hockeyprospect.com's black book rankings for him (they grade 1-9)

Hockey Sense - 9
Compete - 8
Skill - 9
Skating - 6
Misc- 8

But yeah, He battles his ass off and he's got elite IQ. 60 grades in those areas are ridiclous.

Coach definitely, but I doubt Quinn is here long term. The roster is hard to tell right now. We have much a better goaltending prospect.
Prime Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson well exceeded our group’s collective ceiling, though, and they had Toews and Hoss as excellent two-way forwards as well.

Drafting this high. It’s absurd. I love it right now, but it’s still absurd.

I'm in the "f*** it" mindset that pretty much thinks with all the rotten luck, poor management, and other shit we've endured, that the fans do kind of deserve this.

Some people talk about a conspiracy. This damn franchise has one championship in the last 80 years.

You know what? Yeah, gimme the Chicago treatment. Let's be that franchise in the 2020s. Which is what management was aiming for prior to tonight anyway.

is that good?

Doesn’t look generational with those numbers. Is that right now or what they project him to be?
Competitiveness @60 hahaha.
Skating is probably the only thing that isn't top top notch and with his skills more than adequate.
